Your worst classes

#1 Post by Faeryan »

After playing around with all the classes a bit I was left with two that were absolutely horrendous for me to play; Doomed and Necromancer.

Both classes have similarities in that they are so called pet casters, Necromancer bit more so than Doomed. Both dabble in darkness damage which to my understanding isn't especially resisted, except for maybe a few enemies, which in my case are not the reason for my short lifespan.

So, I'm curious to know which class is/are your worst nightmares?

not sure if it counts but...
mind slayer ... everything about this class seems good, except when i try it.
rogue ... this class has something special, and that is traps... how the hell do i get them to work?!
archer ... is just that. the indifference is strong with this one. the wow factor is literally negative.

some other classes i just don't get.
wyrmic, solipsist, anorithil, and chronomancy in general.

I'm generally bad at rogues of all sorts.

I'm not careful enough to play any of the Mage or rogue classes. Oops.

Temporal Warden is the most fun class for me, by a big margin. He demonstrates what a blast you can have with sheer field control. Give him a few tries.

This is really funny because Doomed and Necromancer are my favourite classes.

Necromancer is in a good place since the addition of the animus tree. Doomed however, took a huge nerf to Mental Tyranny prodigy that it really really did not need and now it's not a viable class, at least not for my skill level. But I used to love them, fears and curses yay.

As much as I love the idea of Archer, and I love playing archers in games, I can't help but question why anyone would play one in a world with Temporal Wardens.

As a Temporal Warden "main", here's why:
1. It's a ranged/melee hybrid. You can, and should, be constantly switching between hitting the enemy right in the face and from afar
2. TONS of teleports. Like teleporting? You got 3 really good teleports, some of which are extremely flexible too
3. Like damage? TWs got a skill that basically deals 500% damage, plus a kind of permanent +75% all damage. Also, Bows are possibly the best late-game weapon. You also got really good early weapons as it turns out
4. Don't like CCs? Every time you teleport (one skill teleports you twice) you reduce the duration of a detremental effect (this used to be better in 1.3 :( ) You also got a skill that gives you a 33% chance to recover from a negtive status effect each turn
5. Enjoy scouting? This class's got an awesome scouting skill
6. Don't like cooldowns? Every time you hit an enemy in melee you reduce the cooldown of a ranged skill and vice-versa
Hope you give TWs a shot again, they really deserve it ;)

As for my worst class, I can't really say. There are classes I feel are underwheling, such as Doomed and Wyrmic and there are classes I hate playing, such as any Warrios but Brawler and Archer, all Mages, Wyrmic, Reaver and Doombringer and Paradox Mage

I feel like most people's list of worst classes is a lot longer than their good classes (no offense) because this game's hard and you gotta at the very least win to be anywhere decent at a class, in my opinion. Thus, you should ask what's someone's decent or better classes ;)

i think he meant "why would you play and archer when you can go warden".

and as for archers again... is there anything the archer does, that archmage can't do better?

pinnig? iceblock.
multi hit? pretty much every single spell.
escape? teleport and phasedoor? probability travel if you want to be fancy.
deffence? tons of shields while archer has disengage and heave only.
range? pretty much every single spell can reach 10 away, some even further. archer starts with 6, and has to reload.
scouting? arcane eye. need to say any more?

Oh, lol, my mistake, I'm bad at reading >.<
Archer's got insane DPS and more AoE than TWs, so that's pretty nice. They also got access to the mobility tree now so they are almost as mobile as TW (well, kind of).

I haven't played all the classes, so it's hard to say which is worst. One that I want to like is Reaver, but I find that its lack of utility really limits it. It doesn't have any stuns or other disablers really, no mobility skills except Dark Portal, not much for defense apart from Bone Shield, and doesn't have a good way to remove harmful effects. I've taken one to the East on Nightmare, but I basically stalled out in Vor Armoury. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I feel like the class really needs more tools than it currently has.

so your problem is removal and mobility... hmmm ghoul?
also, you can use bone grab to bring your enemies close, strike in melee, and then is pinned for another few turns.

Archer ain't TW and TW ain't Archer. On the winners checkerboard there's a separate bracket in each, thus two play throughs needed.

As for the differences in playing, there are loads. I don't need to list them.

Looking at this whole thing as "why play X when Y does it better?" we'd end up in the situation of Super Mario Bros, the first one, not the second where you actually had different characters.

I for one like each class a lot, no matter how small the differences are or how much better some other classes are.

Sorry if I wasn't clear--I meant that TW trumps Archer (in fact, I just got a NM/RL win with a Warden), and my comment was meant with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
