Am wanting to tinker around with mods and such and I figure the best way to learn is to crack open other people's mods and take a look at the innards.
So I unzip into a directory, poke around and look at all the pretty files, see something I'd like to see, then zip it back up again and put it in the addons directory.
But it doesn't load. ToME doesn't seems to recognize that the addon is there.
I'm using WinRAR to make a zip file. Are there specific settings I need to be using? Is there some kind of addon compiling/checking/hashing I need to do before ToME will recognize the addon?
How do I get zipped up mods to function?

Thank you.

As HousePet alluded to, I think there's also no need to re-zip it. Just stick in in a folder in that directory. It's much more convenient for tweaking it
