Verbose Enemies

Makes the monsters of Eyal somewhat more talkative...and prone to insulting you.

Featuring taunts from Gaslamp Games' roguelike Dungeons of Dredmor! Also now featuring the EXTENSIVE taunt collection from the iconic Dredmor mod, Death By A Thousand Taunts. This mod was created by Deeborm, and is only included with their approval. Three cheers for Deeborm! Relive your dredmor adventures in the world of Eyal.

You can also add your own taunts! To do this create a file named verbose_user_defined_taunts.cfg and place it in your settings folder where it can be friends with all the other .cfg files. Inside this file put:

verbose_user_defined_taunts = {"I'm a taunt! ", "Your taunt here! ", "Taunts everywhere, taunts everywhere"}
except with your taunts. Just make sure they're all comma separated and in quotation marks. Additionally, due to something weird in how the the speech is displayed a small bit of the final character can sometimes be cut off. Add a space before the closing quotation mark to head this off. After that save it and enable custom taunts from the settings menu in-game!

All taunts (base Dredmor taunts, Deeborm's extended dredmor taunts, and custom taunts) can be toggled from the in-game settings, in the Misc tab.

I think there's a more insult mod for dungeons of dreadmor. Though, I don't know if there's anyway you could look at what it adds. Maybe have an insult suggestion forum?

I feel like either a Google form or spreadsheet is the way to go here. Probably form with the results sheet publicly viewable but not editable for inspiration/to reduce duplicates. Then you can just download as CSV or whatever floats your boat.

This was my favorite part of Dungeons of Dremor. Thank you so much for bringing it into my favorite roguelike!

So... Started a new alchemist with the "Verbose Enemies" mod. After clearing the old forest, my golem may or may not have become sentient. :D

I was about to say that shouldn't happen, but I THINK I may know why that came up. Although I'm not sure if I want to fix it or not now :lol:

But who is "we"?

Is it you and the golem? Then who the hell is it talking to?
Is it the golem and other people? Who are they?
Is it the royal we? Is it gone crazy???

Its one of the lines that the enemies throw at you when you've got the mod enabled. The thing is, the golem continues to throw insults at you even when the level is cleared. :D

On another note, i found a second bug: i killed off an entire group of enemies in the Daikara with one of my bombs (i think it was from off-screen), and everytime i came across that location, there were speech bubbles with insults on popping up on the exact spots the enemies died at. No screenshot for that bug yet, i forgot to take one, i'll probably try to search for it later.

Edit: There we go, found the spot in Daikara 3.

Pixelsarg - that...that is weird. I cannot guess what is going on there. Did things keep popping up? If not then I have a vague guess but it isn't really a huge problem. If the nothingness kept chattering then that's weird. If that's the case please send me a copy of that save (if you have it and it's still going on) - http://tome.gatheringspot.org/hesk/

Yep, the nothingness kept chattering. I kept playing the game between the first time this happened and this screenshot, I came back to the Daikara just to take the picture. ;) Save file sent.

Maybe its the bug where enemies get overwritten because there's no room to place them? Is that still around?
Addons: Arcane Blade Tweaks, Fallen Race, Monk Class, Weapons Pack
Currently working on Elementals. It's a big project, so any help would be appreciated. :)

Yup. That's exactly the problem. I'm thrilled that my addon gave me a datapoint for dealing with that. heh.

Good news everyone! Verbose Enemies has been updated and now includes the 3450 taunts from the Dredmor addon Death By A Thousand Taunts by Deeborm.

Additionally you can now include your own taunts! Information on how to do this has been included in the main post.
