Staff in Telekinetic won't command

Maybe by design or bug, but with a staff in telekinetic grasp, it says I "must be holding a staff" if I try to use "command staff", and it says something akin to 'no applicable item' when I try to use some power like projection from a staff like that, but I can use a power projection from a maul that way. To my mind, I am holding the staff if it is equipped telekinetically. Also, I can tell it does do some things, like increase mana pool when worn, when in telekinetic grasp, but it is not accepting the command staff or other talent uses.

Also related: many item actives will not activate when psi-wielding the weapon (the first one that comes to mind is Bill's Tree Trunk; the icon for its active is placed on the talent bar, but clicking it does nothing).
As stated above, however, Projection DOES work, though that has its own bugs - it attacks with your regular weapons(s) and not the projection weapon (which technically makes sense due to the way such abilities usually work, but is not intuitive).

I think the problem is that Command staff is a talent granted by items, but like Block it's not linked directly to the item (compared to an item with the Projection ego, for instance). So the game wouldn't know which staff you want to command if you're wielding multiple staves. It just always looks in the main hand for a staff. The same issue occurs for Reavers that dual-wield short staves.

I don't think there's a good way to fix this. You just need to equip each staff you want to command in the main hand, then swap it to whatever slot you want afterward.
