Questions about 'weapon damage' and skills
So I saw in another thread saying that skills only applied base damage, but things like flurry seem to apply several elemental damages which suggests that its applying on hit affects. So what exactly affects weapon damage and skills? Is it that 'physical skills' are like buffed up regular attacks, and more 'magical skills', like Wyrmic's Ice Claw don't apply on hit affects? Also, how do skills interact with Ogre's hit penalty when using a twohander and a dagger, mindstar (how is piercing applied?) or with a shield in the offhand? Any answers are appreciated.
Re: Questions about 'weapon damage' and skills
All on hit effects are applied.
Just be aware that some stats are for that weapon only, and some apply for all your weapon hits.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

Re: Questions about 'weapon damage' and skills
Generally, skills that use weapon mechanics are actually hitting with your weapon. But if a skill modifies weapon damage, it won't modify non-weapon-damage. So part of the reason flurry is so great is because it gives you a lot of chances to not just hit with extra damage, but also trigger on-hit effects. Similarly, people really like the prodigy Flexible Combat because it gets you a lot of extra attacks, triggered by other extra attacks, that can cause on-hit effects (they don't trigger weapon effects, but they will pick up hidden bonuses from your gloves).
Re: Questions about 'weapon damage' and skills
What do you mean by "weapon mechanics"? The wording on a few skills that would logically apply on hit affects are really weird. Flurry's tooltip says "hits with your weapons for %damage", while Whirlwind and Sweep says %weapon damage. If anything that says %weapon damage doesn't apply on-hit affects I think that it should be more clear what does apply on-ht affects in the skill description. At this point I'm just assuming that things that say %damage apply on-hit affects..twas Brillig wrote:Generally, skills that use weapon mechanics are actually hitting with your weapon. Re: Questions about 'weapon damage' and skills
On hit effects are *always* applied for any melee attack, whatever the origin of the attack. But %damage only concerns base damage of the weapon, it will never increase the damage of the on-hit effect.
