Class idea 1: Lost

#1 Post by Skyknight »

While bandying about possible hybrid ideas in my head, I hit upon one for a user of both paradox and hate: the Lost. Lost are sole survivors of destroyed timelines, who managed to escape via chronomancy to another timeline. While there, determined to stay alive, they must deal with their festering resentment and ire towards the the denizens of the new timeline, so blissfully and undeservedly unaware of the universe that was utterly erased...

Although I wasn't able to see it unfold, when I mentioned this in in-game chat, an idea was broached of the Lost using stealth, in their absolute determination to survive by whatever means necessary. While I'd be careful about what to bring in from the Rogue (it's not like we need to worry about stamina as well...), a double dagger/stealth take could fit the conceit. Or, depending on how the Lost understand surviving, so could chronomancy skillpaths that deal in weapon and shield. Of the existing chronomancy skillpaths, the only ones I think would really fit are Stasis and Spacetime Folding. MAYBE Temporal Hounds.

Isn't there a combo Void element (arcane or temporal plus darkness?) that doesn't have a lot of love? I remember there was some discussion about possible chronomancer classes and a stealthy void class definitely came up. Surviving an alternate timeline is some neat fluff--heck, it could tie into an alternate reality where the final bosses actually win. If these guys are chronomancers who use stealth, I feel like there are some uncomfortable questions about Temporal Stalkers that need to be raised. (Maybe their starting zone can involve a semi-reversed version of the Temporal Defiler fight...?)

I like the Temporal Hounds tree because it ties in with some fun monsters-outside-space like The Hounds of Tindalos. Personally the Temporal Hounds might be a little too nice for this class, so something a little more horrible might be nice if these guys are selfish counterparts to the Temporal Wardens.

This is the coolest idea I've heard in a while for a new class.
