What if you're an Arcane Mage and you pre-set the staff to what you need?

Huh, I thought people liked it on gloves for the set bonus in a way which doesn't restrict your melee weapon choice.

Well I guess I should have specified it sucks as a weapon on the gloves when you are brawling. You can easily get something WAY better as an actual glove weapon.

It might be good for an alchemist if the staff type can still be changed…

I just tried this a few days ago, and unless I missed it, it doesn't grant Command Staff so using it on a staff is pretty worthless.

If you have the vault and wanted to grind you could make a randart Arcane based staff so much better than the staff the crystal focus makes it would literally be easily double the damage.
