Defeated Atamathon, Killed Linaniil, what next?

#1 Post by amuletofyendor »

So, I destroyed all the stuff that is usually destroyed at the end game. However, I don't want to give my char to the ID like I usually do. I debated with myself whether or not to hit my char with my own talents, but seems to risky. What do you people do for fun with a char that's done everything you could possibly do?

Dunno, try to become a demigod! :D
Why don't you want to go to ID though?

Wait, are you one of those few people that have actually played Nethack? Shoot, better not get my hopes up. I don't want my guy to go to the ID because he's easily the most powerful char I've ever created; bar none.

You better not, because I completely suck at it, however I adore it. Level 4 is usually my hard limit. :/
But your nickname evoked certain memories there.
Uh, after killing Linaniil I suppose every challenge would be relatively easy. Because well, you're technically a godslayer now. You might as well go farportalling till you run out of energy, and then sit, broke but satisfied, with your butler and tell it wondrous stories about seven boss multi-hued drakes that you've tracked just before running into them. Or telling Melinda, if you rescued her.

Heh, anybody who played Nethack has my appreciation.

To be quite honest, Atamathon was much harder. I wonder if Linaniil has been debuffed?

I was thinking about farportalling. All I want is to get into Caldizar's fortress again. I wish I could fight him, cause I'd probably destroy him. And about the drakes.... I kind of got blinded, so I wandered in there with bloodcaller, and lo and behold! Dead drakes, left and right. Good times.

There isn't much to do at that point after killing both, you could just portal farm for gold to make the most ultimate set of gear possible before breaking the record of most furthest descent in the ID.

I would love to get into nethack more but lack of any decent tileset + very shitty non modern interface keeps me off from getting super far in the game. (although graphics isn't a big concern as long as it's functional ala brogue and not a mess on the screen like dwarf fortress)

I do love the dyna hack and slash'em extended versions though, wish you can fuse both because I love the dynahack more modern interface but slash'em extended extra content.

If and when Our Dark Master decides to let us fight one of the Godslayers (let alone that one!) I think every other boss will be "wet tissue"-levels of difficulty in comparison. Something about them having killed actual Gods, instead of just a bunch of crazy mages.

(And a Giant Robot, I suppose)

Sounds awesome. On the level 1000 of Infinite Dungeon, you'd catch up to the Godslayer that stuck his tentacle in a trap and fight him there or help him so he can continue the pursuit.
