[1.2.3] AM gloves for non AM character :(

I just spent $4000 on gloves at the merchant to be given AM gloves for a non AM character.

i thought this BUG had been fixed.

surely it is not difficult to change this ??????????????

I don't understand, why it's considered bug. You pay for gamble, where you can get totally useless item for your character and thus consider whether to transmogrify it or send it through the vault to another character. This is that gamble is about.

A couple versions ago there was a fix by DarkGod to prevent this situation. Useless is one thing, detrimental is another.

the gamble is whether the features fit your character build. but this piece is completely useless.

and i don't use the vault.

It's no AM items for players that know spells. Not AM items only for AM characters.

yes, and i think that's not adequate. rather, it should be, imho, AM items only for AM characters. everyone else, non-AM items. If someone writes and addon for this, I'll use it straight away.

Wait, but if you don't have spells, why would it bother you that these gloves are antimagic?

I don't get this either. You have no downside to this. I can just equip and use it. A magic user can't do that without debilitating itself. Care to explain why you think like this?

AM useres can't use arcan items. Arcan useres can't use AM items without making themselves quite useless.
Everyone else can use both of the item types without a downside.

??? non-AM characters, be they mages or solipsists, often have spells - runes are spells, lots of equipment use spells, escorts give trees that are spells. so my current has extract gems. others get chants, others use shielding runes. all of which start to fail when i equip AM equipment.

sometimes I even get blighted summoning on solipsists, or cauterise, by using lots of spells and getting magic to 50.

Well if you say "be they mages" then its a bug. If you alreay have spells "so my current has extract gems", you should not get am items. That bug should be fixed. If you do not have spells yet, you can get AM items. At the point you get the items, you should usually be trough with escort and the activates on items are not "spells". You can e.g. use the bone spear from Kor's Fall when silenced.

You do get the reduced spell power though... The blighted summoning uses your magic stats though, not your spellpower.
Having no runes before buying the items, but after and getting a spellpowered item on non-spell users after buying is a bit very special I'd say though and imo I wouldn't want to miss out on AM specific stats on items just because of that rare cases :/
You could also workaround this thing with getting a rune / a wand that grants a spell and then buying the item. Afaik that should lock it out.. but if you say you got extract gems and still got an AM item: Imo that bug should be fixed.

If you knew a spell (including from an escort or a rune) when you purchased the artifact and it gave you an AM item, by my reading of the code, that's a bug.

FWIW, my Shadowblade just bought a randart lantern with magic disruption effect (among many others). And she has enough spells that the Grand Corruptor invited her to destroy Zigur.

This is in 1.2.3 with marson-awol, PlenumTooltip, stone-wardens and item-vault.
