Bone giant maimed, recovered, maimed again?

Bone giant maimed, recovered, maimed again?

So how can that Bone Giant recover from maiming and then get maimed again without any action from me? Self-mutilation?

PS if the numbers look high: I'm a Barbarian @ lvl 88 of the Infinite Dungeon...

I'd imagine that's just the log being out of order. The next line is you getting a critical hit - can you cause maiming on criticals?

Yes I can! Technique/Executioner, 6/6 in Sever.

So the log's out of order - I take it the log doesn't use timestamps (or 'turn-stamps') to sort it's messages before displaying?

No, it's the execution order. The critical hit message isn't displayed until after the critical hit finishes happening - but since the attack triggered a maiming, the maiming resolves before it finishes the critical hit.
And then I think all the damage is specifically delayed so it all appears on one line at the end, instead of piecemeal after every action.
