The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
While playing a paradox mage, I decide to attempt Dreadfell at level 17, scrupulously clearing each floor until reaching the 8th. From there, I quickly ran up to the 9th floor in order to lock the master's level before my own level up, then returned the 8th floor and cleared it out, my character level by the end of this being 21. However, unaware that dreadfell resets itself upon the player's exit, I used the rod of recall to return to last hope in order to dump my inventory and purchase a teleportation rune, immediately after returning to the dungeon, and, after having a minor fit over the unexpected remodelling, again began the slog up the tower, only this time dodging the enemies in order to conserve time. Upon reaching the 9th floor, I checked every nook and cranny on the visible map in order to find The Master, and, failing to find him through simple walking, I then began to scour the map for hidden rooms, which, despite the uncovering of two more rare creature, was again of no avail. After inquiring on the chat, it was advised that I take a pickaxe and dig out the level on the off chance that The Master might be residing in a small hidden room, and yet, even after digging in such a way to eliminate this as a possibility, I was still unable to find him, forcing me conclude that the Master, for whatever reason, did not spawn.
I have included the offending save file in this post with the hope that whatever error has occurred might be corrected, as I would very much like to be able to continue my character, and, if this is not possible, then at least the existence of this bug can be brought to the dev team's attention and corrected in a future release. Regardless, thank you for whatever assistance you are able to provide.
Also, while I am posting, I would like to report a similar bug that occurred in a previous game. With this bug, after entering the rift in Point Zero leading to Maj'eyal as a Paradox Mage, I found myself directly next to the location of Angolwen, but with the apprentice mage who usually inhabits the area nowhere to be found. After playing through the game for 20-some levels, at no point did he reappear, nor did seem to have been displaced somewhere on the map, again indicating that, like The Master, he failed to spawn.

I attempted to put the entire savefile onto one page, but, due to my inexperience with file sharing sites, I was unable to do so, so please tell me if you need anything else.

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
I'm using the same version of ToME and have a situation very similar to that of the OP.
Playing as a Temporal Warden, I made it to level 9 of Dreadfell, but wanted to leave to collect a reward from one of the alchemist quests. Before leaving, I managed to see the Master by using a wand of clairvoyance.
Upon returning, monsters respawned in the dungeon, and the layout changed. After making it back to level 9, the Master was nowhere to be found. In fact, I returned three separate times, and the Master never showed up again.
Like the OP, I've attached my save game file. If there's anything else you need, please let me know.

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
hmm. i am not a pro in that manner but i think its that.
a boss "mob" can only spawn once. so, when he does its marks something.
and when "reset" happens, master is deleted, but the "mark" is not ticked off, for regenerating him?
that would be the first place where i would look.

I managed to figure out how to upload the entire save; here's the link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/5lkbjg9v7waf1/
Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
Fix attempt, backup save fully and blah blah then replace game.teag with this

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
It this Dreadfell reset a new thing? Because I've done the walk back with alchemist ingredients thing before, and found it just as empty as I had left it.
Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
Sounds like a bug.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
I'm just repeating what Shibari said in chat, but one char was a Paradox Mage and the other a Temporal Warden, and splitting the timeline was likely involved.

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
I wonder if the timeline has something to do with it, too.
I read up on several tricks to try to bring the Master back, but to no avail. Just like Wokimeittes, I'm uploading my whole save folder:

Shibari, could you try the same fix for my game file? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Shibari generally doesn't hang out on the forums. If you want him to see this, best ping him in IRC or catch him in-game.
Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
Any idea if you both had used Precognition and possibly died with it active? Particularly in Dreadfell? It seems like the Precog res thing might be causing some weird issues.
And if that's the case, hopefully it will be cleared up when I change Precog.

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
Ah yeah, I'm terrible about forums heh. Second guy's save is fixed now, did it over IRC. If anyone else has similar problems all I did was delete Staff of Absorption from game.uniques via console, spawn The Master, save and close out, and remove the invalidated save flag from game.teag. You don't need to send them any other files but that.
Also, someone not me should find and fix this Chronomancy bug :p

Re: The Master, MIA(1.2.2)
Had this same bug today (v1.3.1). Shibari's solution solved it. I just want elaborate on what I did:
All in game:
1. Enable developer mode (Options -> Developer mode)
2. Open your character's save.
3. Open the lua console (Ctrl + L) (or right click a tile and say Lua Inspect)
3. Remove Staff of Absorpsion, type the command:
game.uniques["mod.class.Object.Staff of Absorption"]=nil
4. I went into Dreadfel floor 1
5. Open the Debug mode menu (Ctrl + A) (or check the keybindings)
6. Select Summon Creature, the next menu select The Master.
7. Done! Btw I don't know how to remove the invalidated save flag.
PS if someone can edit the wiki, please do update it (I don't have permission...): http://te4.org/wiki/Debugging
