Not only is this wrong, it's an exceedingly dangerous way of thinking. In terms of "classic roguelikes", Tome is easily the biggest and receives the most outside attention. It's even on Steam. In fact, it's sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. If you design with those sorts of assumptions, then over time your assumptions will become true.
