Arcane Might vs Flexible Combat?

#1 Post by Citronvand »

When should one be picked over the other? Assuming you could pick either one for your character. For instance as a Sun Paladin I can pick any of these two. But I have no idea which one would give the biggest benefit.

How much does the "Uses 50% magic" actually do?

Does it work on shields? Gloves?

And can you find out how much damage you would do with a unarmed attack?

Uses 50% magic:
If you look at your weapons, they will say how much your strength affects their damage.
Arcane Combat makes Magic increase your damage from *all* weapons.

If you unequip your weapons, the character sheet should show your unarmed damage.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

Yes, but how much more damage do you do if you have, let's say, 50 Strength with a weapon that uses 120% Strength? Does it do 60 more damage? 60 = 120 % out of 50. Or is there some complex formula?

I assume that's a typo and you mean Arcane Might since Arcane Combat is a talent for Arcane Blade. Gloves and shields could be both considered weapons and not weapons depending how you look at it. Hence my question, does it affect them?

Thanks.

Flexible combat has the potential be a lot stronger if you get the right gloves. A lot of gloves have talent on hit effects, like a 20% chance cripple, or fire breath, or whatever. And if those talents do a weapon hit, it'll be with your actual weapon instead of an unarmed attack.

And I think there's some sort of synergy going on with the shield/staff accuracy bonus as well, but I'm not sure.

Here's the actual damage formulas.

It isn't an easy answer because it literally depends on your build and the items your equipping.

Flexiable combat depends on how many combat procs you have as well as combat proc on your glove and your unarmed damage.

Arcane might depends on the amount you gain from arcane might itself.

On my Sun Paladin I have no combat procs on unarmed attacks while my magic is at 66. In this case I assume Arcane Might would be better?

Also keep in mind you generally can't see glove statistics until you take the prodigy. It's entirely possible you have unarmed procs.
