Add distance to Jumpgate indicator

#1 Post by BobDinosaur »

Simple suggestion, add a distance display so the player can easily determine if they are in jumpgate range or not.

I'm actually not sure Jumpgate even needs a max distance to begin with. At 1/5 its range is over 10, and anything that moves you over 10 tiles away might as well move you 100 tiles away; there is no effective difference. The only thing that the max distance does is make it so that you have to recast it every few steps, which isn't a gameplay downside, it's just tedious.

The old jumpgate let you enter a level, clear around the stairs, drop a jumpgate right on the stairs, and teleport back to the stairs whenever you wanted. It was cheesy.

Granted this was back when stair dancing was still a huge issue so I don't know.

Anyway a distance indicator could be added easily to the sustain now, similar to how MS shields and Disruption Shield are tracking on the sustain icon.

Some overly large vaults are too big to always have range to jumpgate out, no matter where you place the gate.
