Yeah, but if you don't have a body, you've already "died" - possibly twice, if you've got Chimeric Body or the equivalent Part Ways. You should be hurrying to get into a new body.

That said, I'm not wedded to the idea of Control draining over time, or indeed to the Control mechanic in general. My primary concern about using an existing resource is that you would wind up double dipping from that pool if you possessed a creature that used the same resource. Darkgod, could we get an opinion on this?

Well if you aren't forced into non possession by running out of a resource, I don't see how overlapping resource use is a problem.

I went with Hate because Psi seems to be more natural than Hate, and taking possession of another creatures body doesn't seem very natural.
Also, it gives a cool flavour. :)
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

I do like the flavor of a dark force held together only by hatred.

I have zero experience with the old Possessor, so take this with a grain of salt, but I really like the idea of a Hate-based possession class.

In terms of game mechanics, Hate does seem to fit the desired Control behavior: decreases over time, but does not decrease to zero.
Check out my addons: Nullpack (classes), Null Tweaks (items & talents), and New Gems fork.

Additionally, over time your consciousness melds with that of the possessed creature, and there is a risk of losing your own identity, ie game over if you run into that limit.

Perhaps it could be represented by a small health drain on your own body as it slumbers, making extended possessions riskier as you go on...
I love this idea... and sign me on to the list of people liking Hate-based Possessor.
