WHY?

WHY IS THIS GAME SO GOOD!?

Ahem.

Excuse me, new guy here. I was reading about TOME on the steam page when I saw this little 'blurb'.
If you can not give money, you can always post on the forums and say that you like ToME
Obviously I plan to do more then that, but what a place to start!

Thanks Darkgod! I mean, I havn't had this much fun playing a video game in a very long time. I play multiplayer shooters, grand strategy games, roleplaying epics, flight sims, and more, and for some reason when I get off work, the first thing that I open is ALWAYS Tome4. I don't even like roguelikes or fantasy all that much, but when that music gets playing, and I start looking at the loot... time just evaporates. Other people talk about games making the hours dissapear, but I havn't experienced it since I was younger and playing my first shooter.

I recently tried playing a few commercial roguelikes that can be found on steam, and I shelved them figuring roguelikes just weren't for me. Heck, maybe they aren't. Tales of Maj'Eyal sure is tho! The lore, the gameplay, and the fantastic interface have me hooked! I've lost two characters so far, both around level 7, and I plan on losing many more!

Really enjoying this game Darkgod.

Now on to an actual question. I want to support the game, while simultaneously showing my steam friends what game is more important than them. :P I am curious however, does buying the steam version get me the upcoming Orc DLC?

Furthermore, if not, is there a planned price point for said DLC? I saw it mentioned in a blog post, but the post was incredibly vague about what the DLC actually is. I kinda get that its some sort of steampunk gun orc invasion thing? The blog bullet points involved ..er.. yetis... but that didn't really help.

Have I said thanks for this amazing game yet? Y U SO GUD TOME4!?

You should probably post this on steam forums, since i guess darkgod wanted it to be some kind of a publicity, for promotion purposes and everybody here, on these forums, know how good a game ToME is :).

Lawl!

I might be a bit mistaken here but I'm under the assumption that Steam purchase will count as 10$ donation when it comes to amount of Fortress Vault item slots, making it 5 slots.
From the talks around the village I've gathered that Orc expansion is an entirely different game and is not included in the Steam purchase of the game. Don't think the upcoming expansion will cause you bankrupcy even if you buy the main game on Steam.

The DLC itself is whole other story set in a different time I believe. There will be new races, new classes and new world map. Basically it's like a new standalone game in Maj'Eyal universe.

If you're thinking whether the game is worth your money I can tell that for me it so far has been and a lot more. I started playing the latest ToME around 6 months or so ago and so far my account says I've played 14 day(s) 19 hour(s) 32 minute(s) and while I've won the game 10+ times on normal difficulty and once on Nightmare I'm still nowhere near beating the game or growing tired of it. There's still two more difficulty levels that are way out of my league and the game even keeps track of your won character race/class combinations so if you really want to "own" the game you have 26 different classes to try out and then after winning with each you can go up a difficulty and do it again. Oh and there's achievements on top, like killing the so called "half boss" of the game as your first real boss type and other nice things that should keep you entertained for a while or two decades. Of course if you're a real completionist you have to rack up 1000+ wins (4 difficulties, 10 races and 26 classes. Each difficulty won on each race/class combination will net you that 1k different marks on your char wins page) and if that's not enough there's always addon races and classes for added fun.

So if you still have money after buying the game on Steam I suggest you go and buy yourself a baseball with which you can "persuade" your friends to try the game as well.

Since DarkGod has set up a Voratun Coins system for the purchase of DLC and stuff, I expect that is how we will be purchasing the Orc Campaign.
