Since this forum is not as active as i want it to be and since i have many of them dumb (or not necesarily) questions, let's start with one.
I want to beat the game with every race, but i despise suboptimal builds, that's why i am asking your advice guys, what class would you pick for every race, in terms of efficiency or special flavour (such as stone warden for dwarves for example)? And why?

Re: good race/class combos
I set a similar goal to win with all races and all classes. Although I didn't choose all optimal combos here are a few that I think worked well.
Higher: I chose a Shadowblade with a speed based build, I skipped the ambush tree entirely and built for temporal. I used the higher racial that makes skills free for several turns and combined it with a ton of speed boosting talents, essence of speed, momentum, blinding speed, and also short duration buffs like time shield, shielding runes, blinding speed, willful combat, precise strikes, etc, then topped it off with steamroller which is easy to maintain with all that speed. The higher racial pets you use everything without worrying about mana or stamina which the shadowblade can burn through very fast otherwise.
Ghoul: I went with alchemist, basically you can let your golem tank to avoid a lot of conditions and most of your damage comes from bombs, which due to their cooldown aren't terribly impacted by the global speed penalty. On the plus side Ghoulish leap gives you one more escape move to stay out of trouble.
Skeleton: Archmage, usually wildfire to help with conditions. Skeleton racials have insane synergy with the Aegis tree. Arcane blade is another option since they also have Aegis, but being a melee class who has difficulty with conditions there is at least some downside to going skeleton.
Corruptor and Reaver are also great choices for skeletons because Bone Shield is weak against DoTs and Skeletons have immunity to both bleed and poison, two of the most common DoTs, and reavers can add disease immunity on top making their Bone Shields more absurdly strong.
Yeek: Solipsist is a common choice, they use psi for health which counteracts their low HP. Reaver and corruptor can also work well hiding behind their bone shields. Arcane Blades are decent, although the low HP sucks, they level fast and once an Arcane Blade gets into higher levels his Aegis can easily compensate, also they get silence immunity which is good for the arcane classes. Summoner is another good choice, pets tank so you can hide around corners, kinda boring but very strong. Cursed are good, their strong bump attacks work well with increased global speed and they start out weak so faster levelling gets you to their late game powerhouse status quicker.
Halfling, thalore, Dwarf: Works for pretty much any class, their defensive racials are never bad even when you don't use their primary stat. I recommend classes that are weak in whatever specifics they add, so halflings are good for melee classes which lack stun immunity since they have indomitable and evasion.
Thalore are all around good for anything.
Dwarves are good for classes that could use the extra escape from Stone Walking, so basically any class that lacks a teleport.
Shalore: Temporal Warden is the first thing to come to mind, they have a skill that makes all skills cooldown twice as fast, extend it with Timeless, extend their damage smearing and haste too.
Cornac: Dual Wield Arcane Blade using stone/dual techniques/battle tactics, or Corruptor (torment/bone/darkfire) since both builds actually need to unlock 3 trees.

Re: good race/class combos
I just finished a skelly arcane blade, the lack of infusions is indeed rough, but it's absurd once it gets going, the bonus str keeps you from needing a single point in str, so by midgame I had max cunning and magic.EatThisShoe wrote:I set a similar goal to win with all races and all classes. Failed saving throw against terrible idea and opened the wrong door. Again.
Re: good race/class combos
Even though I only play two races with few exceptions (Shalore and Thalore), there are some notable synergies for other races with certain classes.
Cornac Cursed: Use your category points to get Rampage, Predator, and Survival (Fungus instead if Antimagic). On Normal the lack of Thalore treant tanks doesn't really hurt since you can drop enemies in a turn anyway.
Higher Necromancer: Obvious choice since you get free minions, which is amazing. Also Necromancer spells cost tons of mana making Highborn's Bloom even more useful.
Shalore Corruptor: Timeless has amazing synergy with Virulent Disease and Draconic Will (for Bone Shield). Your other three racials are also very strong although Secrets of the Eternals won't proc often thanks to Bone Shield.
Thalore Oozemancer: Simply the easiest race/class combo in ToME.
Halfling Arcane Blade: Boosting your crit chance to 100% is great on this class, as is the stun removal since Arcane Blade has no anti-stun talents. Duck and Dodge and Militant Mind are good too.
Dwarf Stone Warden: Dwarf is not very good in general but Stone Warden is so good it makes up for Dwarf's flaws. If you aren't a donator, Bulwark and Sun Paladin are okay for the armor and save boosts.
Yeek Solipsist: This isn't better than Thalore Solipsist but Dominant Will and Quickened are both great anyway and your terrible health per level doesn't matter as much with this class.
Skeleton Archmage: This is the only class that doesn't need any Infusions, which is the biggest issue with Undead races. Bone Armor and Reassemble are good with Aegis talents.
Ghoul Alchemist: You only have one good damage talent (Throw Bomb) so your speed penalty isn't as bad as it is for other classes. Also Ghoulish Leap helps slightly with the class's mobility issues but it's still worse than Movement Infusions.

Re: good race/class combos
Bpat, you're just saying Dwarf Stone Warden cause you haven't tried other wardens. :p
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.
Re: good race/class combos
Are you referring to Temporal Warden or the addon class Storm Warden? Even though both are good (at least I think Storm Wardens are good, I haven't played them too much though) I wouldn't recommend them because they are both really awkward to play. Either way Dwarf as a race has very few redeeming qualities so if you have to play a Dwarf then you should go with the Dwarf-only class.Faeryan wrote:Bpat, you're just saying Dwarf Stone Warden cause you haven't tried other wardens. :p

I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be a joke...bpat wrote:Are you referring to Temporal Warden or the addon class Storm Warden?
