The Cunting - That is Draebor

#1 Post by emblempride »

Playing a Thaloren Berserker and was having a blast until now. You should know that I was able to clear out the Room of Death in less than 30 minutes at level 33. Level 39 now and I've just found it impossible to beat Draebor. Having only done Tannen's Fearscape as an Alchemist and the AoE making quick work of him, I did not realize that I would have such severe mobility issues against this guy. At first, I found it to be pretty cool to fight a boss where my tactics as a Berserker could not just be Steamroll crit the shit out of everything, but 2 hours later and NO PROGRESS. Spydric Poison only lasts one turn and his bone shield constantly regenerates, motherfucker has stun immunity, confusion from maxed Warshout means nothing when he phase doors right afterwards, movement boosters faces the same problem with phasing. Any chance someone could share how they dealt with the Draebor in melee? Really frustrating when the Room of Death was a cakewalk and now I'm just stuck.

EDIT: You should also know that the hypen following the word "cunting" in the thread title is the filter's censor for "-". The Draebor needs to know how I feel about him.

Yeah, I never do Draebor.

What difficulty is this? Usually for me Draebor is a pushover no matter what class I play (that being on normal, haven't tried him on NM) but for Bone Shield you could try equipping some damage conversion and/or damage bonuses stuff. Each element counts as separate hit when it comes to Bone Shield, unless I'm terribly mistaken.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

In retrospect, maybe it wasn't the best idea to theme a boss around being annoying.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the Bone Shield, Faeryan.

And that is a terrible theme for a boss. :(

Yeah, that seemed to be the only logical solution but I had no on-hit effects or stockpiled equipment that had any on-hit/damage conversion stuff. Finally took him down yesterday after confusion luckily and finally got him to blunder and move next to me two turns in a row. What made the whole thing worse was that each time I managed to get a hit on him vanilla, it would deal enough damage to at least knock away 1/3rd of his total health, so at most I just needed 4 good hits. But the constant blinking, decent health regen, and bone shield regeneration made that a lot harder than it seemed. So it wasn't impossible, just insanely tedious. Telmur is super easy and most builds wouldn't much consider swapping out boots that likely fit your style by that point in the game for some boots that just let you phase door quickly (though I'm sure there are builds that would LOVE them or I'm just not privy to its uses, being as annoying as the Draebor does not seem to be to much benefit against the hordes of enemies the endgame throws at you). Only reason I went to Fearscape was because I couldn't remember the last time I did it (probably around b42) and, for some reason, thought the boots gave a global speed boost.

And yeah, I was playing Normal :/. Another thing to take note of is that I'm not exactly great at this game lol
