Burst of hits from standard enemies?

#1 Post by Mr Yod »

It happened 2 times (one with an alchemist and one with an arcane blade): I make only one step and the enemies that surround me (which are not strong enough to kill me*) start to hit me repeatedly like if I am keeping pressed 5 on the keypad (which is quite impossible because I meve with the mouse) so from full life I find myself next to the Eidolon after watching powerless my life gradually depleting...

*The enemies I'm talking about are slaves from the slaves compound (they killed my alchemist while I was trying to get a better line of fire for the slaver) and common skeletons (they killed my arcane blade while I was hitting one of them), both type of enemies aren't deadly for my characters (well, 4~5 skeletons are deadly, but only after 2~3 rounds without shield and regeneration), even the number wasn't enough to normally kill my characters: with my alchemist I could stand surrounded by slaves only using firestorm to kill them.

It's like the game freezes for a fraction of seconds and then, trying to recover the time lost, it goes to ludicrous speed:
Game: What happened?!? There's no time to lose! You, enemy#1: attack!
Enemy#1: <stab>
Game: You, enemy#2: attack!
Enemy#2: <stab>
...
Game: You, enemy#1: attack again! We must recover time!
Enemy#1: <stab-again>
...
Me: Wait a minute! What about me?
Game: You? Oh yes: talk to the Eidolon (formerly "talk to the hand")
Me: I hate you...
:P

It could be that the enemies Stun, Daze or Sleep you. Or just get lucky with critical hits.

There is a reason Skeletons are on almost every top 10 killers list...

Stun doesn't make that effect: I get stunned often and the enemies doesn't burst the attack like a machine gun while I'm stunned.

No: it was just like a machine gun, but instead of firing bullets it was melee attacks (even the sound of "being hit" had the same rate of a machine gun) so it wasn't even criticals.

Well: they are quite common, so statistically it's not that strange.

But how about the slaves? They don't have so many special attacks

Compound slaves are brawlers, so their attacks take less than a full turn to perform. On top of that, they have Double Strike, so that's potentially three attacks in one round from each if you get unlucky. Gloves often have egos that proc extra effects like breath attacks when they're used to punch things, so it all adds up.

So it was a one-on-a-million case of very bad luck...
...twice... (skeletons have similar attacks?)

Because it never happened again (and the game looked like it was going to freeze before the "machine-gun-attack", so my thought it was a bug).

I could lose at the lottery even with the winning ticket: Woo-ho!
