1.1.5 - (Option to?) not override gamma in windowed mode?

#1 Post by StarWeaver »

I'm not sure if this should go in bugs, ideas, or development, but it's a thing that I'd really like changed / added because it annoys me.

Basically, every time I'm done with ToME I need to go find catalyst and reactivate my desltop color settings becuase ToME messes with the screen gamma settings. This is rather unusual for a game running in windowed mode. Could there be an option to just not touch the gamma in windowed mode?

Thanks much.

Run the game with a gamma setting of 100 ? :)

Nope, that dosen't fix it.

After some experimentation, here's the order of what's happening:

I run my (primary monitor) desktop at around 0.8 gamma and 60 contrast (default 100) via AMD's color controls. I'm actually not sure which of the values is getting messed up, now that I think about it.

When I start up tome, it makes my entire desktop brighter. After this, the ingame gamma setting only changes the brightness inside the game window. Also, I tried setting it to both 100 and 80 (to match desktop gamma), closing out, resetting my colors, and starting it again; neither changed anything outside the game window.

Now here's the odd part; when I switch to other windows tome returns the desktop color to its prior settings. And then when I switch back in, it makes it brighter again.

The real bug is that when I QUIT, it doesn't revert the colors. Only on task switching. So I have to go hit 'reactivate AMD color controls' to fix it.

I'd still appreciate an option to just not mess with the color profile at all in windowed mode, but restoring it properly on exit would be the real fix.
