Pssst

Wild infusion or psychoport torque

Or even just skip the last level if your build can't handle it, the maze isn't required to beat the game

A good light radius is also nearly required for alternate maze. If you can detect the boss from far enough you can blast him from afar before he rushes.
For melee chars I often find him easy enough, though I rarely play melee ranged silenceables.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

If you ever find yourself wondering if a creature was really meant to be that hard, check its type. If it's a "Horror," then the answer is most emphatically "YES."

I concur. The best type has (usually) earned it's name. It isn't called "Pushover", after all. :)

I'm curious though... What is so bad about this zone? Usually they'll complain about the Sandworm Lair...

Basically the game goes from pushover to hard.

Well, the biggest reason the Horned Horror is so good at grappling is "Tentacle Grab". It's long range, silences, grapples, slows.
Too bad the brawler class doesn't have that.

Edit: Or maybe not. One word: randbosses
When in trouble / or in doubt / run in circles / scream and shout.

I didn't say it was bad, but that is the main complaint.

1. Horned Horror.
2. The zone is longer, which is good in ways and bad in ways.
3. The stupid holes in the floor.
4. There isn't a fixed layout like the maze original.

Just for reference, you do know it's possible to avoid alt Maze entirely, yes?

A common issue is that you fight enemies like Oozing and Umbral Horrors a bit too often in alt Maze, which can be difficult for low-level characters to deal with.

Oozing and Umbral Horror can't spawn there anymore.
