Inconsistent behavior when removing talents
The Weirdling Beast hit me with Corrupted Negation, which removed one of my Mindslayer shields and caused it to spike. A few turns later, it activated Taint: Devourer and removed two other Mindslayer shields, but neither of them spiked. (If it helps, in both cases I received messages that I'd deactivated the talent.)

Re: Inconsistent behavior when removing talents
When the W.Beast uses Devourer, it consumes sustains and timed effects.
When your Absorption sustain is "spiked", it creates a timed effect.
Did your "spiked" shield get eaten, too?

Re: Inconsistent behavior when removing talents
No, it never generated the spike in the first place - no message.
Corrupted Negation, 5/5 removed, and ended up with a spiked shield after (the 'protective shield' was Premonition's buff):

Taint: Devourer, 4/4 removed, no shield spikes message or buffs after:

On the other hand, it just hit me again with Taint: Devourer and this happened (split across two screenshots, but these lines were back to back):

The Beast used the Taint (instant).
My Kinetic Aura was spiked by the deactivation.
The Beast's turn wasn't over, so it bumped me in melee (that's what the cold damage is).
I regain control with a targeting cursor for my spiked aura.
I target the beast, losing control.
The spike hits the beast... but so does my aura ('16 physical') and a Beyond the Flesh mindstar ('45 nature' + adds), even though both sustains had been deactivated by that point.
Beyond the Flesh comes off of cooldown.
The Weirdling Beast's turn starts (bone shield regeneration).
The Weirdling beast casts Starfall, stunning me.
I hit the Weirdling Beast's bone for 119 physical, even though I had no reactive damaging talents.
My damage shields crumble from the Starfall damage.
I get control again.
The only thing I can think of is that the turn sequence got confused, and that the damage was the result of the Beast hitting into the wall from my prior knockback...

...OK, and here's Taint: Devourer successfully spiking a removed shield.

What.

What.
