Has the plot been extended before/will it be again?

Playing the game I get the impression the plot used to end after beating The Master and then got extended in an update. I'm curious if that's the case, or if I'm off my rocker, and if it is the case if DG has said anything about plans to continue the plot in the future.

I know there will be a new campaign that takes place after the current one involving the player playing as an orc but i don't think there will be any more extensions on the current campaign

Um, once in a long time ago the beta (maybe even alpha at that point...) ended at the Master. I think it was public knowledge then that the game would be longer?

Jeez. I'm guessing that was close to a decade ago.

I've managed that. It was completely random and also completely awesome.
