Digging wells and canals to drown enemies

#1 Post by sehnsucht »

Compared to other rouguelike games, the choices in ToME4 is too limited. I think we should be able to discover more creative ways to use our tools. This can be a good start.

Seems cheesy and most enemies would be smart enough not to fall for it.

Dig a well on the ground to prevent Faeros from moving past it? Kinda like engraving Elbereth?

Lure an enemy into watery tile and encase in stone so it can't move. Reminds me of this one class in ToME 2, the element mage dude. The name escapes me though. Too bad there was no suffocation in that.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

geomancer - and water may not have been so much of an issue, but the lava they produced rather was.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the limit in choices, though. TE4 has a lot of tactical options. A class focused on terrain modification might be interesting, though.

I strongly suspect no enemies at all would be smart enough to not fall for it.

after playing with that everything is unique mod, i can confirm that even boss mobs and others with supposedly good KI will drown in that water vault all the time.

thats a pretty rare occurance though. Sure enemies dont check "Am I in water? Do I need to breathe? Well I better move then" but what they will do is keep moving towards you. Really the only way this would matter is if you have some way to disable an enemies movement for an extended period of time since drowning takes something like 20+ turns.

In that time, you could have just murdered them yourself.

I dont see much value in this

enemies stop moving as soon as they dont know where u are. so teleporting away is usually enough if theres enough water.

i have seen 15k hp uniques drown pretty quickly, they'd need a check for water and to avoid it before they start suffocating imo

If we cna create water, I must drown Argoniel, Elandar, and Aeryn. In one pool.

What?

Don't look at me like that...

It's not water, It's blue kool-aid, and I finally found a use for a charisma stat! :)
