Completely insane weapon luck leads to questions...

#1 Post by Mankeli »

Hi again!

Playing another new character: Skeleton sun paladin and things are looking absolutely amazing. This is my first character with a shield and the damage output of shields seems to be better than on my average two-hander melee . Skeleton sun aladins seem to be pretty amazing at tanking too.

Anyways, things got a bit fuzzy after some incredible weapon finds. First, I find a very nice tier 5 ONE-HANDED staff in the sandworm lair with very good bonuses. Then, after killing the queen and heading to golem graveyard I find a voratun greatmaul with 80-120 base power and great effects and bonuses.

I'm quessing that because I have already invested 9 talent points in shield skills (and because many sun paladin class skills revolve around taking advantage of shields) the voratun mace is off the table? But what about the one-handed stave, should I try my luck with it? I only have one generic point in weapon mastery that I can't remove, other two I still can.

I have raised strenght the most because I wanted to wear that sweet stralite armour but it's not unreasonably high and I have pumped magic and con too. My stats are 54/37/37 IIRC.

That staff is a lucky find, but I'm not sure you should base your entire build around it. Sunpallies don't benefit that much from short staves. Enjoy it while you can, but don't worry about permanent mastery points. You might want to juggle staff combat a bit, but I guarantee you'll eventually find a better weapon.

Ok, thanks it's actually good that I don't need to take a completely new direction since the one right now is working pretty nicely.

Throw muny at DG and stash the babies.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.
