1st win - Thalore berserker

After reading in some other threads that berserkers and bulkwarks are weak during the whole game, I decided to check this out. In the end I've come to completely different conclusion as for berserker. I played as Thalore (was thinking about Shalore and abusing Timeless + Unstoppable, but used unstoppable only once during the whole game, so Thalore is the best for me) and went full antimagic. During the whole game I was laughing at mages - I could stand in the middle of the room full of pyromancies and my life was 100% full, Superpower is beautiful for this kind of character. The final battle with mages was a joke, I didnt close the portal because I didnt know I can do this lol Elendar (or whatever his name is) was silenced, confused, stunned and went down in 6-7 turns, the same happened to another mage, SunPaladin was at 96% life, my life never felt below 100%. After level 40 I was critting 100% of the time with DeathDance or Stun attacks for 3,5K, my highest damage was 4,2K - nothing compared to Corruptor or Arcane Blade but I didnt even took Wild Infision because all physical, mental or spell effects were mostly for 1 turn due to high willpower and berserker skill and my life was almost always at 100%. I had heroism, regeneration infusion and battle shout on autocast and was running with 2,7K life (after bloodbath) with 300/turn regeneration, nothing could stop me. All bosses in slime tunnels were dead in 4-6 turns (I watched on youtube how much trouble they can cause).

All of the deathes were completely avoidable. One death was due to Master, because he trapped me in a narrow corridor with no room to escape (that was lvl 25). All other deathes were at DeathRoom, when fighting with lvl 90 wyrms (I was lvl 34). This was my first time I saw this room and wyrms and didnt understand how I suppose to kill all of them. I was chased by 3 of them and still almost killed one. Went to prides with 1 life left and that was more than enough

I spent 12K for unique items and visited about 10 farportals because I found them quite fun. I dont think I have a superB gear but this character is very strong, definitely fun to play.

Berserker are indeed very fun to play, especially when you rule supreme.
As for the gear you said it's not superb but i think it's way above average. That sword especially has damage rating among the best I've seen. Also the bonus damage types and amounts on your orange ring are nothing sneeze at.

Thank you for your reply, i'm new to the game so cant judge effectively about supremacy of the gear. I was thinking that ring is not specifically designed for berserkers, it has good stats and modifiers but not exactly I was looking for..but I didnt find anything better so nothing to complain about

Would you please recommend another class, fun to play and not being a glass cannon? or your favourite class maybe?

Reaver would be powerful, interesting, but not all that hard to play.
Bulwark is rather nice too, though you might want a bit different type than another warrior class to go next.

One fun thing to play in between playthroughs is opening new classes. ToME wiki has info on how to open different unlocks.

I'll go with Reaver next, some melee and some casting sounds good, thanks! It will be interesting to compare damage and survivability of Reaver and Berserker.

Not yet, trying to take a pause from melee characters and look at pure casters like necromancers.

I laughed out loud reading this. Sounds absolutely ridiculous. I know what class I'm playing next.

I had actually played one a while back, but some super dumb mistakes made me try something else. But that goes for any class: Don't be dumb. I just need to stop opening every damn vault I see, at least in early game.

I suggest Cursed as your next character, as it is still melee based, but introduces whole new types of playstyle.

And i suggest roguelike, as then you'll truly master the game.

Haha, I finally got my first win thanks to your character idea.

You're right, Thalore Berserker is unstoppable. Well, sort of, I'm kind of bad and still got 7 deaths, but... hey, it's a first win. Woo-hoo! Now I can relax and stop worrying I'll never get a win.

No idea how I'm gonna get a win with any other class though...
