Splitting Stacks?

#1 Post by Xanmyral »

First, story time as to why I need this done. See, I was trying to put a gem in my character's golem, but it kept trying to put several in a single slot. Now, I first checked to see if this actually granted the golem the benefits of multiples of them, but it didn't.

I want little Shorty to be outfitted with bling, but not if it doesn't do a darn thing. I could use those gems either for cash or fragments, and it does no good just sitting in the golem's equip slot when it only actually uses one of them.

I did a search (admittedly rudimentary) of how I split a stack of items up but to no avail. I then tried the typical measures of right clicking, control clicking, shift clicking, even some odd measures. Nadda.

I did manage find a work around howver, mainly by giving the gems to the golem, having him drop them which brought up a prompt for how many, dropping all but one and then equipping that one. There was some problems though, mainly in that it said I equipped the whole stack even though the stack was now sitting on the ground at the golem's feet.

This was thankfully a fluke after having nabbed the rest of the gems and checking the inventory again, finding only a single gem in the slot. I repeated the process to get a second gem of the same type in the second slot and it didn't happen again, so I figure it was just a once off.

Now, for the main question: is there a better method? There has to be a better way to do it, probably something simple that I really missed, of splitting stacks? It would be a bother to have to go through the 'drop-plug-in-pick-up' dance every time I want a new or different gem in the golem's slots.

You know, I don't think that you can split stacks in-game without using the drop method you described. Maybe there's an addon that does it?
And it was such a good idea...

You won't equip multiple gems to a single slot. Feel free to select the stack normally; it'll only take a single gem (the same's true for Imbuing items or creating Alchemist Gems).

Perhaps in the new update (haven't tried it, so beats me if this got fixed or implemented or so such) but when this topic was made it wasn't the case. Far as I know, there isn't (or wasn't) a way to split stacks, so the golem would accept all of the gems into a single slot if they were of the same type. A touch annoying, but the 'drop-plug in-pick up' method is a suitable work around.

...Weird. Did that change with the new golem interface?

Yeah, it's the new Golem interface. Rather than equipping one gem, it equips all the gems of that type in one slot.
