I've got a theme build Adventurer character at level 43 right now, and he's actually doing pretty good: two Prides done (Vor and Rak'shor), no Escorts lost, no deaths, etc.
This is a bit surprising since he hasn't spent any points since ... uh, level 35 or so it looks like. Two unspent Prodigies, 36 stat points, 8 class points, 1 cat point and 9 generics... (plus unused wyrm bile, plus unused everything from the Alchemists).
I'm feeling kinda paralyzed by indecision. Several different builds cry out to be explored. How do I go about exploring all of them?
This character is a gimmick Adventurer so it's not like a win would be particularly legit anyway, so please help me cheat and tell if there's me anything non-obvious about copying a character directory around. Right now it looks like all the copied directories have the same character name, will that be a problem? Ideally the character versions will all show up online so people can look at my builds.
Cheers!

I see you posting this: "I bet he's using Absorption..."
I feel like this might be a better discussion for the general forum or for the adventurer subforum. It's not a simple question.
EDIT: I did have a thought while in the shower today. You remember that thread on Lightning Speed + telekinetic weapon fighting? I wonder if that trick would work with Never Stop Running. If it does, that + Mobility/Light of Foot + Enhancement/Fiery Hands might be a really good combo. Haven't tested it. Just a thought.
EDIT2 (In response to explaining your question): Oops my mistake! I have no idea...

Re: Best Way to Cheat? (split character to test a few builds
Sorry, the simple question is "How do I split a game into multiple saves which show up as separate games?"
When I try changing the character's name, even inside the save file(s), it still seems to save over the original character. This is fine for my personal testing, since I effectively have backup folders now, but it's not great for sharing & discussion. I'd like to be able to post ~4 different links to 4 different characters, each of which was a fork of this current speed-demon.
(Yeah Absorption is kind of addictive...

did u try to first create a lvl1 char with the new name and then replace it by modified folder with the same name?

I did not.Tharsonius wrote:did u try to first create a lvl1 char with the new name and then replace it by modified folder with the same name?
Also I'm not sure exactly which files should be replaced to keep the new name, old character, but maybe you can tell me.
Cheers!

Re: Best Way to Cheat? (split character to test a few builds
No sorry it was just an idea because my comp is sometimes so slow that when i create a char theres the line:
"registering char to te4.org"
so i thought u already know how to change the characters name in the save files, if so it could be a way to create same class with the name ure changin the old files name to, to trick this process.
otherwise it was just a dumb answer but gl (i have obviously no clue about coding)

Tricking that process sounds exactly like what I want to do, yeah.
Maybe someone will come along who is able to supply the details...
I don't mind if the character is labeled as a "cheater", since it's only going to be used for Science(TM).

On a complete copy of the character save directory:
Open game.teag (I use 7-zip)
Find the file mod.class.Player - <hex characters> and open it in a text editor.
Find the field d["name"]="...old character name..."
and change it to the new character name.
Update the .teag file with the new file.
Should (guaranteed) break validation.

As long as it shows up on the website, it's valid for Science(tm), and marking it as invalid would be perfectly fine since it's not really a legal character.
