A quick search (typing "Apotheosis" into the search bar) yielded no relevant results, so I will propose here.
A quest, artifact, skill or whatever we deem worthy for as many classes as we deem appropriate to have an Apotheosis event.
I'm referring to something like Lichform, or (allegedly, the Acorn for Cursed).
This would (ideally?) be an expensive and otherwise costly thing to achieve, and therefore not always be desirable for everybody all the time, but like it's inspiration, be a very worthwhile option when you use it right.
I apologize if this has been brought up before, and also if the idea is... stupid. It just seems like a way to add some more variety to the classes.
Retrospectively (if you can call it that already), most "physical" classes don't have much use for this. What exactly can a Berserker "ascend" to? A more punchy class? But some/most others have potential. Good or bad, I know not.

Re: Aptheosis Quests
First... maybe a different name? The very final quest is already named "Falling Toward Apotheosis" which is a pretty cool name.
But conceptually yeah, it's fine. Maybe a quest for one of the other Godslayer weapons?

Re: Aptheosis Quests
Apotheosis is "ascension", which I suppose is very thematic. I had meant for that to be the title
. Be that as it may, I wouldn't want or have the power to enforce that title.
Keeping the theme, it could simply be "Ascension" quests. Not as awesome/sounding, but... Meh.
That would probably work for most classes. A mage or berserker, for example, "earning" (stumbling upon?) one of them? How much would that stretch the lore?

its going to be like getting my Epic weapon from Everquest all over again!
I actually approve of this. It will give me something to try and do other than "max level, save world"

Re: Aptheosis Quests
Not for every class, I hope. I was intending thematic rewards for each class. Some classes (like Necromancer) already have one, and that was the inspiration. Other classes could probably have something similar-but-different. An Oozemancer becoming an "Oozelord" or something, for example.Sradac wrote:its going to be like getting my Epic weapon from Everquest all over again!
A fighter-class would probably benefit most from a special weapon, though, you're right. But for every class, it'd be a bit... diminished.
Re: Aptheosis Quests
maybe a bad example, but what I meant was having that one special thing for me to achieve thats specific to my class, maybe it is a weapon, maybe a spell, maybe a passive, maybe a robe, but whatever it is, it can probably alter (probably not SIGNIFICANTLY) the way I play or approach the game as a big sidequest type deal.
Not required, but fun

Re: Aptheosis Quests
Cool idea.
I prefer the word Apotheosis over Ascension because some of these could be ... descent, rather than ascent. Devolving into a slimy swamp-thing would be an example of "not ascent" IMHO.
Expansions on the idea:
- some Prodigy choices could open up specific Apotheosis quests
- some Apotheosis choices could be open to specific classes (like Lich is to a Necromancer)
- some could be race-specific, like a Draconian (addon race) becoming something more wyrmish

I figured that it was a "good" thing to them. But by and large, most would find it unfavourable, yes.Doctornull wrote:I prefer the word Apotheosis over Ascension because some of these could be ... descent, rather than ascent. Yay! I love expansions of ideas!Doctornull wrote:Expansions on the idea:

Perhaps, though this is a tad isolated, Draconians (or even just a Wyrmic class?) would permanently transform into a Wyrm themselves, based on their most dominant category? Or a Doomed becoming a "creature of the Dark" or somesuch?
