Drolem?

I unlocked the Drolem for the alchemist, and I'm wondering what all it does. All I can see is that it gets poison breath. Is that really all there is to it?

How does it work, is it an actual unlock, and after unlocking it once you can have it from the beginning with future characters? Or do you only unlock it for that one current character?
