Not all casters are ranged, and not all ranged builds are casters. That said, most classes do have at least one silence-like effect to guard against. Melee classes have Disarm, for example. The issue, for me, is not so much that arcane classes do have a counter as that mind-based classes don't: they can't lose their resources, they can't have their sustains dispelled (except by the Weirdling Beast), and they can't have their abilities fail due to enemy action.

Something to think about when we get steampunk abilities, perhaps.

Actually, yeah, it is mostly that Mind classes lack an equivalent effect. Disarm's reasonably effective at hurting physical classes, you're right.

Unfortunately, I don't know what sort of class would be considered "counter" to psionics, but if they store psychic energy, perhaps something that makes them lose focus?

We could use Afflicted as an example, and have their mind be "overwhelmed" by effects like Gloom and Feed? Or not, if I've made an error in rationalizing something.

Corruption could be a anti-natural one, make them increase the target's equailibrium on hit

Why should anyone be hard shut down by a class of enemy? I'd rather see silence and disarm nerfed than see equivalents against psionics and wilders.

Having abilities that I can't lose is what makes those class groups playable for me where mages and fighters generally aren't.

Won't work on NPCs.

Many of them cheat their Equilibrium regen.

There are other ways to go, though.
