I gave a couple of the Merchant companion shades a try.
- Sun Paladin Shade: awesome, but his Ally Sun tree needs icons. Also, I skipped the Guardian tree because it didn't look like those abilities were party-friendly (e.g. Retribution).
- Cursed Warrior Shade: constantly ran out of Hate, not very effective if I built him to use Hate abilities. Initially lacks armor in spite of proficiency. Maybe give him some illegal Hate regen?
Found a potential bug: when my main character died to a boss, player control switched over to my companion shade, and I finished off the boss that way... but there was no way off the level with the shade, and no shade self-destruct button (like the one a Golem has for exactly this situation).
Another potential bug: set my Sun Paladin Shade to auto-use Bathe in Light, walked around town, no problem. Switched control to the Shade and Bathe in Light triggered, which damaged my Skeleton... BIG PROBLEM! Suddenly every guard in town turned hostile (maybe because the player-controlled character damaged a friendly NPC, which was what my actual main character was at the time?). We killed all the guards and continued shopping, but it was an unwelcome surprise. I bet this is not your fault, though it'd be nice if the town guards were able to ignore friendly damage among party members.
Not sure if bug: the Shades correctly dropped all the gear I gave them on death, but they did NOT drop any Infusions or Runes. It'd be nice if I could use the Rune of Reflection on one and have at least a chance of getting it back... or maybe have them work a bit like Golems, and be re-born with whatever Inscriptions you put on the last one?

I'm afraid that they won't drop infusions/runs/whatever because they no longer have it to drop.
Making them born again with the same stuff would be somewhat difficult, as the way it currently works is to summon a brand new one, that levels up to your level. I'm quite hesitant at making his level level with you actively.
Will fix the Sun Paladin icons, I guess I broke those during one patch.
I never changed the Guardian tree because I was unsure if it did hit allies. After seeing that it did, I'll edit that.

1: if I'm using resources which regenerate while resting, I'm going to sleep away his Hate.
2: if I'm using Hate, I'm not going to give him any kills because I need them myself.
The only playstyle which suits him would be where the player can end fights at full resources, but those are frankly overpowered builds, and one ought not design around them.

If it has Ally- before the tree, none of the talents will affect allies, except for effects left on the ground, which is why I had to mass rework the fire trees.
I haven't tested Searing Light yet, so that may also still hit allies.

You can now ask the Merchant to restock ALL the shops, for 33% of your current gold.

Shops have been updated with a chance to get better egos on them.

The Farportal will reward players who save up, granting +10% to your current gold after each farportal clear.

The Farportal will now grant passive experience after each farportal clear. This starts fairly large, but tampers out over time.
This was done to help get weaker classes into the late game faster.

You can now ask the Merchant to break one of the forbidden seals of the fortress, summoning Randbosses, costing 50% of your current gold. (You require at least 1000 gold to do this.)
You can pick between 1 and 10.
This is purely for people who think the game is too easy.
Old pathways have been added all around the fort, and the anti-teleport field has been lifted.
(Note: The higher values are somewhat unstable, and I'm unsure of a way to change that fact. You may lose your gold with 6+ Bosses at once. Be warned.)

Slight problem:
After finishing a farportal (killing randboss, going back through portal), I get the following error:
Lua Error: /engine/LogDisplay.lua:122: Bad argument
Could this be related to the bonus exp each trip (as I get the bonus gold without issue)?

Orangeflame, that's due to me making the log display incorrectly. It will not affect the game in any way, and I'll put up a quick fix.

Cosmetic Bug in latest (via Wine on OS/X): when I learn Survival from the dagger merchant, the lot output says he taught me Field Control. (I did learn Survival so the bug is purely the log message.)

It would be real nice if you could get ammo from the artifact shop. Launchers are cool and all but they don't crank your damage output like ammo.
