Melinda can't leave her dungeon!
Seriously, I have no idea how/why I can't complete this quest, I got her safely to the exit, and everything is peachy keen. She did get hit with Rune of the rift once/twice, but she's not hostile or anything.

She must be RIGHT next to you. Tip, kill your golem off, by having it eye-beam zap itself, or melee attack itself. When she stands right next to you, you will be able to exit.

Taking control of your golem and moving out of the way is a bit less extreme way of doing this as well...

Problem is, the golem will come back. And push through melinda to do it. And when you control the golem, IIRC, melinda would follow you. So then you switch back, and golem was first back. Again and again, when I tried it.

Doesn't matter how far I went. Melinda followed the golem, when I controlled the golem. So no matter how far it went, she was still next to it. For a less extreme option, you might try leashing your golem to the ground, after melinda is on the side closer to your character, but I haven't tried that, since I didn't think of it at the time. I've only done the melinda thing twice, and I regret it both times.

Did you try moving yer golem to the upper left? She shouldn't be able to swap places with yer player, meaning she'll stop next to the stairs?
Even if she can, she'll stop on the stairs, meaning you can just swap yer golem off, and she'd be there.

Heh, just take control of yer Golem, move down 3 or 4 paces, switch back to your main guy aaaaand before you move towards the stairs make sure to set your Golems leash anchor to itself (if it's set to your main guy = he follows). It won't move.

HousePet's is stupidly simple to do (Though he did mix up East and West), and I feel ashamed at not seeing it.

Or dig, if you find yourself here with a layout that doesn't let you make that simple step-and-step-back. Dig all around the stairs and they'll each be next to you.

Simply set the leash anchor to the empty tile and golem will stay there till you change the anchor.

There are probably several means to have Melinda right next to you, but it is SILLY.
As a necro I had to kill all my minions for that. It just makes no sense.
