I forget, since I've only won once, how many class talent points do you receive at level 50? I'm wondering if it could work or if I should just go with your suggestion and invest 6 points into reaving... Or crits...

Yep, you're right, not enough with how heavily I'll be investing in Magical Combat and Wildfire. Oh well. I could afford Reaving tree AND a crit-boosting tree if I don't want another generic, so I think I'll do that, with Reaving first, since all it needs is a point to turn on. As far as crits go, my options seem to be Bloodthirst, Dirty Fighting, and Lethality, and I don't think I'd get the full value out of Bloodthirst. Dirty Fighting would give me another stun and a much higher chance vs stun, but Lethality is always on and gives me Willful Combat, so I'm not sure. Or is there another tree I'm missing?

For Magical Combat, I had good results with 1/1/5/1 (just max out the crit enhancement). You get most of the benefit from Arcane Destruction with just one point -- the explosions don't scale up with talent investment, just with level.
Wildfire I totally agree, you want to 5/1/5/5 that tree, and you want to 5/5 the last two talents as fast as possible. Cleansing Flames in particular is a game-changer.
One point in Reaving Combat / Corrupted Strength will often double you chance to proc Flame, and that's better than what you get with 1 extra point in Magical Combat, AND it comes with a free melee attack on top of the proc chance... even if the rest of the tree were full of fail, I'd still think of it as a good use of a cat point.
What's your plan right now, what talents are you going to build up from here?

So you don't believe investing any heavier into Magical Combat is worth it? If that's the case, then maybe I'd have the points that Bloodthirst would be worth it? Actually, that depends. Do you know if Mortal Terror increases all crit chances or just physical? Because that makes a significant difference.
Re: [1.0.4] Lvl 20 Adventurer - Help picking new category!
Mortal Terror and Lethality only increase physical critical chance.
Re: [1.0.4] Lvl 20 Adventurer - Help picking new category!
Oh that's lame. Then I guess all of my options only do so. Oh well, spell-crit boost would just have been icing I suppose. I'd still like to pick up one of them... That makes me lean toward Bloodthirst for the largest always-on crit bonus, plus the other benefits. I still have a good more than a dozen levels to think about that one though.

For the 4th talent, Arcane Destruction, one point is all you will ever need.adamn wrote:So you don't believe investing any heavier into Magical Combat is worth it?
For the others... it depends on what else you could get for those talent points. Putting 5/5 in Arcane Combat isn't a total waste of points, it's just that you might get better value by spending them elsewhere.
What else do you want to buy? I assume you're going to invest heavily in Fire and Wildfire?

5/5/5/0 and 5/1/5/5, respectively. 1/1/1/3 or 2/2/2/3 for Absorption, 1/0/0/0 or 1/5/0/0 for Reaving Combat, maybe 1/5/1/5 in Bloodthirst.

Alright, so 31 for Fire-stuff, 6-9 for Absorption, 1-6 for Reaving stuff, and 12 for Bloodlust. That's 50-58 talent points out of 63, or a few more depending on quests & alchemists.adamn wrote:5/5/5/0 and 5/1/5/5, respectively. 1/1/1/3 or 2/2/2/3 for Absorption, 1/0/0/0 or 1/5/0/0 for Reaving Combat, maybe 1/5/1/5 in Bloodthirst.
Assuming you also go 1/1/5/1 in Magical Combat, that's a total of 58-64. Not much left.
Nice cheap categories (good value for shallow investment):
- Two-Handed Maiming: put 4-5 points in Stunning Blow, and you can keep one target stun-locked. Ignore the rest of the tree if you want.
- Cursed / Gloom (assuming you have good Will & Cunning), at 1/1/1/1 it's a very effective passive debuff zone.
- Spell / Meta: put 3-5 points in Disperse Magic, it's a great disease & status cure for yourself, and a debuff for pesky caster bosses.
