Good day folks,
I have no problems with running 1.04 under Vista. All is well - thank you
This weekend I have been playing with Mint 15 - I installed it in a 280 gb partition.
I downloaded the Linux version 1.04 from th te4.org and installed it
Immediately actions on the game were very slow - video seemed slow, and response to both cursor and keyboard seem slow. All of the other applications that came with Mint behave as they should
Is this a 1.04 problem? Are there some settings I could use to make it work better?
I am using an Acer Aspire AM1100-E1402A 'puter that has an ATI X1200 video card (probably integrated) - 4.0 GB of RAM
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
Preston

Re: 1.04 runs slow under mint 15
Have you tried the proprietary ATI drivers for your card? Mint should have an option for installing them.

Thanks for your notecttw wrote:Have you tried the proprietary ATI drivers for your card? Mint should have an option for installing them.
I downlaoded
ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run
Then I ran
sh ./ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run
And I get this error message
Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:i686:lib::none:3.8.0-19-generic; make sure that the version is being
correctly set by --iscurrentdistro
Being brand new to Linux, I have no idea what this means and what I can do to resolve it
Thanks,
Preston

I don't have a mint install here to look into it but I believe you need to install the drivers through some application provided in the distribution. Maybe look up in google ati driver installation for your version of Mint. I know it's confusing but the more polished distros like ubuntu or mint package their own drivers.
