Re: Dumb questions thread
How does Aegis work with Disruption shield? It raises max mp some, then after some turn reverts it, even though there is nothing in Aegis description about time limit.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Yes, technically. But it's hideously gimmicky, and the golem does not naturally learn generic points. To give your golem a generic tree, first save an escort, and choose the tree reward, choosing to give it to your golem. (This must be a tree you do not have yourself.)adamn wrote:Question: Is there any way to unlock a generic tree/get a generic unlocked tree for an alchemist's golem?
Now, the tree is still locked. To unlock the tree, you need a cat point. Lategame, there's an item that grants the user one cat point, and some stat points. You would have to pass this to your golem, and let him use it.
Now, for generic points. There are 3 places to get them. One, complete the arena quest, and pass the 2 generic points to your golem. Two, pass the sandworm heart to your golem, and let him eat it. (1 more generic point.) Three, pass the elixir of foundations (from alchemy quest) to your golem, and let him drink it. (2 more points.)
Between this, you can get a tree, and 5 generic points to spend on it. It's horribly ineffective, but can be quirky fun for a few exotic things. (Celestial light works amazingly on a golem.)

Re: Dumb questions thread
Ok I've got two dumb questions:
What are these ego items I keep hearing about?
How much should I spread around my stat points? I realize this depends on character, but I tend to put most of my points in my character's primary stats (the ones skills scale with) and then spread the rest around a bit so that my saves are not horrible. When in doubt ill put a point on constitution for the extra life. Is this approach going to gimp me?

Re: Dumb questions thread
They are items with extra effects on them, like a flaming sword, or a dagger of rage. Their names show up as green, blue, or purple.gandalf733 wrote:What are these ego items I keep hearing about?
I wouldn't go for saves, myself. I tend to go all out on one stat, and mix between a second one and Constitution. As for it gimping your character, not really. You won't be quite as powerful as a more focused build, but should still be fine.gandalf733 wrote:How much should I spread around my stat points? Hey, just recently discovered this game. Love it. Huge rpg fan but I've never played a roguelike before. Anyway, quick little quetion: What does the number in the upper left screen, right next to the character mean? I'm level 7 now and the number is at like 33 and it seems to keep rising over time but I have no idea what it stands for.

Pretty sure what you're looking at is your gold.xagon wrote:Hey, just recently discovered this game. Love it. Huge rpg fan but I've never played a roguelike before. Re: Dumb questions thread
Maybe my issue is not worth a new thread, so let's just post it here. Somehow I seem to have deleted an important file, so ToME didnn't start on my computer anymore. I then tried to uninstall it, but I wasn't able to find out how to do this and so I just deleted the folder and everything inside. The problem is the the launcher still doesn't allow me to start a new installation. Instead there is still the "Play"-button to be seen, which of course doesn't work anymore. Would be great if you could help me out of this mess!
Re: Dumb questions thread
You can go to http://te4.org/download, and download the whole package again. Just choose the one that's appropriate for your OS. Make sure you download the version with music, the no music version can't use the installer to update patches at the moment.

Thanks alot! Worked
But now I have a new problem. For some reason there is no mouse curser to be seen as soon as I start the game. Maybe someone could help me with that one, too?

Re: Dumb questions thread
If my weapon says "changes damage: +20% arcane, does that add to my total damage, or just change 20% of the total to Arcane? And what does it mean when the weapon says "damage conversion"?
When a weapon has extra damage on hit, is this reflected in the "Base Power" figures, or can I count on even MORE damage than the base power range??

Re: Dumb questions thread
Changes damage +XX% = You DO this amount of increased damage with any attack (weapon or talent) that uses that damage type. For instance, +20% arcane makes any arcane element weapon do 20% more damage, or arcane spell/talent, such as manathrust, aether breach, etc. to deal 20% more damage.
Convert damage +XX% = Part of the damage the weapon would've dealt is converted to this type.

2 weeks to 3 months. You can see the exact dates in the announcement forum.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Armour penetration rating: it lets you ignore that many points of armour. On mindstars it means that they basically cut through anything.
Ghoul never existed, this never happened!
Re: Dumb questions thread
Hey, I got a Brawler to level 16, but I keep seeing these out-of-depth monsters running around. I'm talking monster level 35 standing next to a level 9 wolf, and a monster level 40 surrounded by level 13, 11s. I know what I need to do safe this game is to teleport around them and rush the exit, but my question is,
Is this supposed to happen, and is it conditional on anything?
