Can't unlearn class talent because of generic talent

As you can see here, I'm attempting to unlearn Dual Weapon Defense. It won't allow it because of Piercing Sight, which I learned from an escort. It actually wouldn't let me unlearn ANY class talent, giving me the same message. After I exited out of the screen and went back, I was able to unlearn my talents again just fine. I'm unable to reproduce it. Prior to the bug, I had just leveled to 15 and eaten the sandworm queen's heart.


Obviously not a game-breaking bug, but a bug nonetheless. Please excuse my floating category point; I'm not sure what to do with it at the moment =P

Looks like you had put a point in Charm Mastery, and taken it out. Usually, you can't get to Piercing Sight without putting a point in Charm Mastery, which the game checks when trying to exit the level up screen. You got Piercing Sight from an escort, and skipped putting a point into Charm Mastery, which usually is totally ok, except that the level-up screen gets confused if you temporarily had that point in there. So Piercing sight is not preventing you from unlearning Dual Weapon Defense specifically, it's just preventing you from saving any changes on the level-up screen after putting a point into Charm Mastery and taking it out again. Right now this happens consistently, and the best work-around is to exit level-up screen without saving changes, and try again.

I didn't put any points into Charm Mastery at any point, and I was able to and did save changes on exit, so I'm afraid your explanation is incorrect.

Maybe I am misunderstanding? I thought your first post was stating that the issue was that you could not save the change you intended?

I imagined the scenario went thus: go to talents screen, make some various changes (including learning and unlearning a skill that is a prereq to the offending piercing sight, and unlearning dual-weapon defense), try to save, and get a pop-up telling you your changes are invalid.

Re-reading your post, I see maybe you mean: go to talents screen, do nothing but unlearn dual defense talent, get a pop-up immediately even before trying to save, exit out and retry.

If the second scenario is true, I have no advice. I had run into the first problem before and assumed this was a similar chain of events.

Close. I go to the talents screen, put all my points in. Then, before exiting, I change my mind about putting the points into dual weapon defense and try to take them out, but it won't let me. I exit and save changes. I go back to the screen again and it lets me remove the points just fine. Like I said, it isn't a game-breaking bug, and not even one I need help with since I was able to get around it just fine. Just reporting it!

Had similar problem. Learned Premonition from escort, then Arcane Eye with generic point, then got another level of Arcane Eye from escort, and tried to revoke one point that I invested in it (it was still blue). Got message that I can't because Premonition.
