A while back I watched some videos on Tales of Maj'Eyal from the user DimlerTheDark. I was interested in the Roguelike but at the time I had watched the videos I was delving deeply into Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and didn't feel like diversifying too much at the time. Fast Forward to about a month ago, I decided I would finally try jumping into ToME to see if I liked the game and what it has to offer.

Initially I started a video playlist of me just messing around showing off the individual races, classes, early dungeons, and some of the starting Lore. Eventually however I decided I wanted to get a semblance of a real run recorded and uploaded to YouTube, and after playing a Dwarf Berserker in Normal Difficulty off camera, I jumped into this Dwarf Berserker in Roguelike difficulty with the intention of delving as deep as possible into the game.

Currently I am in the process of compressing the remaining recorded footage and will be uploaded the completed videos to YouTube. Only real disappoint comes with the Temporal Portal video - ran out of Hardrive space during the Boss Fight. Will probably have more playlists after this one too eventually if people want to subscribe to My YouTube Channel.

Episode 3 rocked pretty hard. Great fight with the summoner rare, and the end illustrates nicely how you can sometimes let others do your killing for you. Awesome fight under the old forest - when you didn't go up the stairs I thought "Welp, that's it", but you pulled it of.

Episode 5's vault fight was nice, too. You might want to use Blinding Speed for combat instead of for running away: it increases global speed, meaning you get to attack about 50% faster as well as moving a bit faster. Hurts to see it wasted that way

I started a Thaloran Wyrmic run after the death of my Dwarven Berserker. This time recording wise I've tried to isolate my videos to be a little less sporadic - like you won't see me jumping between 3 or 4 dungeon instances this time around.

So far I've managed to clear up all the dungeons before Daikaira and Tempest Peak - but this time around I'll be exploring some more of the optional dungeons. I've already done the Halfling Ruins and I plan on hitting up the Ruined Dungeon, Slaves Compound, and Elven Ruins.

As before, I'm doing a lot of compressing and uploading. Unlike before, I'm not done the run yet since my character isn't dead.

Decided today after playing a couple new Wyrmic characters that I had really not built this Thaloran Wyrmic well. As such I decided to suicide the character showing off Mark of the Spellblaze. Specifically I had really not focused very well on the Wyrmic talents for this character and thrown points this way and that into random talents - a good way to learn how they all work but not really a good way to build a solid character.

Anyhow, I'm slowly uploading the rest of my Thaloran Wyrmic videos now. Next video series will either cover the Brawler or the Temporal Warden (probably a Higher Temporal Warden). Not sure yet if I'll do a completely blind-playthrough with it like the Wyrmic where I don't play a run with the class first or not.

For me blind runs are definitely the most interesting. After all, everybody can only do those once. It's a good way to pick up on unclear descriptions an the like.

Brawlers are difficult to get off the ground, Temporal Wardens sorta medium. If you go TW, Shalore will have some very nice synergies provided you manage to get to the level 20ies.

Maybe I'll go for a Shaloran Temporal Warden then. I can play Higher something else - maybe Higher Brawler .

If you can't tell I'm looking to play with all the Races too in my videos to show off what they can all do.

Higher TW should do pretty well too, and I think would be a better beginner's choice. For Brawler you could do Halfling

Oh, and that Ooze horror Archmage was pretty silly, since they're the "antimagic flavoured" horror.

I was thinking of maybe of trying up a Shadowblade run with Halfling; After that, maybe try a Cornac Arcane Blade. In any case, I don't see a whole lot of problem playing Halfling whatever as I do with Higher or Shaloran.

This of course assumes I don't manage to succeed in unlocking another class anytime soon.

Been Running my Shaloran Temporal Warden and for the most part it was a fairly eventful run - I managed to kill Shardskin, got to Daikaira 3 where I was killed by the Paradox Mage of myself, and 'Technically' I killed Varsha (who also killed me just the same). Anyhow, I'm slowly compressing the last two Daikaira videos at the moment while uploading all the videos before that for most of the 2nd tier dungeon instances.

So question is what I should try pushing into next? I'm thinking off the bat I should start with a Higher Brawler but I'm wondering if I should put my blind runs on hold for the moment and play with something I've experimented a little bit with first in order to get somewhere for once in the game.

Figured I'd drop a quick update that I've decided to put the Semi-Blind Runs on Hold for the moment and move in to attempting a run with a Halfling Rogue; a combination I've experimented with already somewhat. I figure it's a good way to do at least one of the Meta-Class Rogue Classes.

I'll still do a Semi-Blind Higher Brawler Run after this at some point, but I'll stick with doing a little bit with what I know - possibly doing a Cornac Cursed after this. I'll have an update when my Halfling Rogue either completes all the Tier 2 dungeons or dies with Playlist URL and perhaps a summary of a bit of what's happened.

Also, the Shaloran Temporal Warden Roguelike Run is now completely up and ready for watching from start to finish.

Figure I drop a note then about the Halfling Rogue - it managed to make it to Dreadfall but I made a bad call when I attempted to take on a Vault. On the plus side for this character though is that I was able to show off the entirety of the Boss fight from the Temporal Portal as well visit the Alternate Old Maze and the flooded level of Lake of Nur.

Not sure what I'll be doing next - I'm thinking of jumping straight in with a Higher Brawler but I'm wondering if I should continue with the mostly pre-played runs and go with perhaps a Cornac Cursed next. One thing for sure though is that I'm getting some decent experience with all the races and finding out which ones I like and don't like.
