If you unlearn your starting point in lethality you can use str instead of cun to build melee pwoer with daggers.
You could use a sword/dagger combo but it's probably not so smart as you'll require both weapon mastery & dagegr mastery talents.

A "popular weird build" is the mindstar rogue, learn the mindstar mastery, pump psiblades and destroy things :)

Ok last question for today, lol.

With disarming traps is it possible to gain exp from disarming them or is it only to save your life? If you do get exp, is it enough to make a thief/disarmer viable?

Thanks,

-Dave

Not sure if it does offer exp or not, but exp from disarming would never be a viable consideration anyway, as in most locations traps are now gone. (Not all, but the vast majority of areas no longer feature them outside of vaults.)

I am currently running a Thalore Brawler, managed to punch the Master to double death again (very satisfying when you come from a few failures with previous characters :) ) and noticed something odd while looking at the stats.

In my skillset i took Spell Shield to obtain + 40 Spell Save
Image

I have during the adventure so far found only near useless cloaks, i'm wearing the only one that is not too laughable and it says it gives + 5 Spell Save
Image

But if i look at my stats it says i have only 40 at Spell Save ?
Image

Why ? I have triple checked my items , even the ones carried and not a single one gives me negative Spell Save points, and i have not taken the Antimagic road for that character, so what am i missing there ?

The wiki explains it, as does the tutorial. What you are seeing is the effect of tiers on power/save numbers. It is harder to increase them the more you have.

Ah thanks, i see, i wasn't expecting the cost to increase by this "tier" system depending on the amount of points.

I think so, but I haven't done it myself. If you don't intend to do stealth or traps, the Marauder class is pretty much what you're describing.

Would somebody explain attack speed to me, please?

If I'm using a 'quick' weapon, I have 90% attack speed. What does this mean in practice?
I also remember an artifact sword which gives me 200% attack speed. I thought lower was better, but then why does this artifact double(?) the time it takes for me to attack?

Thank you for any help.

Here's a guide:

http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=36880

td;dr:

Less is faster. 90% means every 10 swings, you get a free swing. 200% means after every swing, you loose a turn.

The %200 attack speed artifact is very special and has a way to lower the attack speed. Read its description carefully.

Is there a way to acquire the background music of a dungeon, say, Heart of the Gloom's into a file form so I can listen without booting up ToME?

Assuming you're using a precompiled binary download and not SVN source code, you should have a file named tome-1.0.4.team in the game/modules/ subdirectory. This is a PK-ZIP archive (it just has a funny extension). Any tool that can extract PK-ZIP archives can extract the files from this, though you may have to rename it to something.zip first. All the .ogg files are inside there.

Thanks, tooling around my folders wasn't productive, but the knowledge I can just 7zip open some of the odd file extensions helps a lot. Just found it.

By my understanding, all the music in the game is from Celestial Aeon Project anyway, and you can aso find there stuff online. (Along with a lot of there stuff that's *NOT* in the game.) This appears to be the homepage, however the link to the jamendo page with the album downloads (This one) from the homepage appears to be non-functional. A bit of looking around might find them somewhere though. Not sure which tracks are or are not on ToME (Other then "Dreams of Flight", which is my favorite ToME track from the fortress), but the music is worth checking out.

Edit: This appears to be the correct link for all their work. Dunno why the link wasn't changed on artist's homepage.

[/Shameless plug for Celestial Aeon Project.]
