Minor updates

#1 Post by tylor »

Can we have updates more often? There are lot of things now in SVN that are worth having ASAP (Higher and Shalore balance fix, Psiblades and Alchemist major bugfix come to mind).

There wasn't a lot wrong with higher or shalore as is. Not a high priority to 'Rush this to the players, or they all stop playing tome!!!'

I do think we need to get a better system for bugfixs into play, especially now that we have the launcher, but that would entail significant problems in recoding the whole frigging server/client interface, the checksums to make sure game versions are valid, would wreak absolute havoc on any add-on's, and a variety of other problems. Likely, we won't get that for every bugfix, but when there is a significant one (for instance, psiblades which is breaking multiple characters, alchy golem only breaks characters once, then you learn to rebuild in the eidolon plane; from previous versions, the broken arena comes to mind (unwinnable) as does the broken lore from the previous version.)

But the issue still comes down to 'how stable is the new version with these changes' and 'how often are people willing to download a new version of the game' and 'how often do add-on/module creators want to update there work?'. All of those would be affected by pushing a new bugfix. Add-on creators don't want to have to push a new version every week.
