Final thought: instead of giving rogues archery trees, what about giving archers the Traps tree (locked)?
I've never been against this one, either. :)

They could use more locked stuff, and at least the problem of that literally removing the only unique tree Rogue has is no longer a problem.

How odd.
I could understand if it was arrows only.
But shots only poisoning sounds rather weird.

Any class can learn how to use bows and slings at a very low price in Last Hope...
And some item drops (such as Wanderer's Rest) can really give rogues a boost

That only gives the ability to use slings/bows.

This is talking about the slings skill tree (ie sling mastery and all that cool stuff)

I think you do at least twice less weapon damage if you use weapon without 5/5 in respective weapon traning. So it's useful only if main damage components comes from something else - weapon folding, poisons, etc. Or you just want to apply stats.

I understand. It just makes no sense for rogues to have the archery powess tree.

Not sure what you are saying. Mastery in various weapons gives you better damage. Doing less damage is also expected for secondary weapons.

I mean, there are talents like "weapon mastery" , "staff mastery", "bow mastery", "exotic weapons mastery", etc, that give so huge bonuses to particular type of weapon, that using weapon without respective "mastery" talent is usually very sub-optimal.
For example, no one use Archery Training tree on Berserkers, because it is useless without Bow Mastery or Sling Mastery.

I think that "mastery" talents do more harm than good, actually, because they do little but limiting gameplay and making 70 to 99% of weapon drops useless.

I assume the sling wouldn't be much more than a ranged delivery system for your poison debuffs. Making sure the enemy is slow and weak Before it's in your face can be helpful.

I like throwing knives idea. Quiver slot, same reload rules as arrows and bullets, minor range and damage, but each hit fires some melee-triggered effects (i.e. NOT those that require specific weapon types, etc). It would make quiver slot useful for all melee chars.

Well, you could do the sling/dagger thing. Doesn't weapon set swapping only take one turn though? Also, I love the throwing knives idea. I loved it a couple years ago I think, but it never went anywhere. Or the return of the boomerang, for that matter.
