[Discussion] DarkGod needs idea on how to unlock Oozemancer
Basicly it have to be something relates to Antimagic or Slime.

Idea:
Oozemancer will unlocked when you finished the secret mission that Archmage Teralion will give you (an archmage) after you return from far east.
Secret Mission: a HUGE slime stuffed Angolwen's sewer, and now mages have a toilet issue waiting to be solved...
In another hand, Zigur could have a mission of invade Angolwen from the sewer...

Defeat the Corruptor boss with an anti-magic character - simple and thematic.

The easy, low code way: Reward for saving Derth along with the Fungus category, when you go back and talk to Myssil.
An alternative: Make it a reward for talking to Aeryn after seeing the Slime Tunnel.
Another alternative: Just have it gained the first time you obtain Antimagic.
Hard ways:
Allow saving Derth the AM way to enable a second quest of...basically any flavor, people have already had some ideas along those lines.
Have Angolwen give you a quest to defend it from Zigurites, or visit a flavor of new dungeon.
For a dungeon idea, anything generally slime and nature filled would work. The problem with a large dungeon, however, is that you need to make it randomly appear(not a good flat rate idea), or it'll be another dungeon of loot and EXP, which allows for goodie creep(a problem the game has had to correct for before with EXP drops).
Here's my take on it, for a big suggestion. I think the best idea is to make the prereq either getting AM or clearing out Derth the AM way, and being told of a powerful Zigurite that has gone missing.
For the dungeon, it should only appear in desert and icecap areas, and be a strangely out of place, warm, wet, jungle, filled with oozes and high powered plants(There's no such thing as high powered plants yet, of course.). Normal enough in the first room, but with random crystals in the second area, and Blighted Oozes/Corrupted Slimes and Withering Plants showing up(the oozes wouldn't get much more than improved stats, while the Slimes and plants would gain various ranged spells).
At the end, what the Zigurite has become: A poor, blighted suffering shell of the proud ooze warrior he once was, mind entirely lost. Probably a good candidate for Blighted Summoning, Oozemancer skills and some Reaver skills(Corruptor's overdone.). Defeating him will get you Zigur's saddened praise, possibly some special secondary reward, and the Oozemancer unlock.
Optimally a kinda small area(it's hard to imagine his power being large enough to cause something that out of place, the assumption is that the Oozemancer himself is maintaining the area as his own, though it could its self be an artificial creation of Corruption and he be the one that went to investigate it.), so the loot and EXP is lowish.
Personally, I think the simpler ways are probably better, but just tossing that out if people want a more complicated idea.

Kill 1000 spellcasters (similar to the Reaver unlock).

While I *REALLY* like this idea, mostly due to an old classic tome event where I mis-keyed and drank a potion of corruption instead of slime mold juice, and gained the ability to summon molds... We need to do something to get that potion first. (Plus, the slime mold juice is an EXCELLENT callback to ToME's classic history, and we all know DarkGod loves him some references.)stinkstink wrote:Drink a potion of slime mold juice.
Is oozemancer a wilder? If so, unlocking through Angolwen is a bad idea. As for a quest area, I vote no on using it for an unlock, but YES to provide more flavor, setting one up as a class quest (Archmages, Cursed, Temporal Wardens and Paradox Mages currently have flavored stuff, more for the cursed then the others, but still.) Toss it out midgame for oozemancers to go through.
To avoid EXP and loot being gained, your best bet is unlocking through an achievement, similar to reaver, or a single encounter. We could tie it in to an existing location somewhere similar to Anorithil unlock, or we do something ooze related. Killing X number of oozes seems counter-intuitive, since oozemancers work WITH ooze. Knowing more about the class and it's background would help to pick a nice thematic unlock for it...
Also, is this random, or sponsored by DG?

Hell, just provide a few conditions, and require some, all, or one. Kill a unique slime boss, traverse the slime tunnels, kill X slimes/molds/oozes, drink a "bottle of viscous green liquid."

Kill a rare random Oozing Horror boss in the Slime Tunnels (or an event trigger side dungeon in the Slime Tunnels). Similar to the Stone Magic unlock. Could unlock a slimey category for Zigur followers.
Or
Defeat the Grand Corruptor as a Zigur Follower.
Or
Find and drink a random Slime Mold Juice, which can only drop in the moldy vault that appears in the Old Forest.

The only real problem with the Slime Mold Juice idea is that it fits best with having an unlock devoted to it. Similar to how the Heart gives Harmony.
The current Slime category in SVN is not Generic anymore, and Ooozemancer doesn't have any unique Generic categories so far.
Of course, Malleable Body doesn't look done yet, and the skills that are there could possibly be Generic...

Kill a rare/elite while standing in water, without water breathing. (I don't think any rares spawn in Lake Nur? And you can't do Nagas without water breathing. Likely to be twin Chronomancers in Temporal Whatsit, or else via Yeek. So not too difficult to unlock, but not something that is guaranteed to happen during a single playthrough.)
EDIT: Oh, remembered running into a Nur elite, but I think new players tend to want water breathing there anyways.
