A few questions on how my damage is calculated

#1 Post by dreadpatch »

I've been using Psionic/mind-based characters for a while, and I've always taken up Mindstar Mastery and Mental Tyranny as my main damage modifications. Damage aside,I've always wondered how they work.
  • How does Physical Power come to play when using Psibladed Mindstars when they deal mostly in Nature and Mind Damage?
It says here Mental Tyranny coverts all damage to Mind damage. When I do, say, a melee attack, does it first check using my Physical Power, then Directly convert it to Mind Damage? Or does it now check with my Mindpower?
Bonus Question: Will the mind attacks from Mental Tyranny activate the Meteor?
P.S. Here's my Character in question: http://te4.org/characters/5156/tome/8fc ... f365b08b08 she's a cursed/mindslayer adventurer hybrid

I believe physical power applies to all weapon attacks, mindstars included. (Gestures not included)

Mental Tyranny might change the damage, but it still remains a physical attack.

As its a physical attack, it won't trigger Meteor.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

I wonder if gloom will trigger Meteor. I will have to take a look at that.

So its better to stack Physical Power rather than Mindpower if I'm going full melee? /rhetoricalquestion

Anyway, thanks a lot! :D

You'll want to build Mindpower if you're using Mental Tyranny anyway. Mind damage is unique in that enemies can save against it, reducing the damage you deal. Mental Tyranny is great for classes with high Mindpower (since enemies will rarely make their saves), but less valuable for classes with low Mindpower.

That being said, it's still a solid choice for your build. You've got a wide variety of damage types; unifying them with Mental Tyranny is seriously powerful. Besides, you've got plenty of Mindpower anyway. At this point, you should be finding ways to stack +Mind damage.

Been farming farportals (and using the gold from them) to get gear that has + Mind and +Mind Penetration, so I guess I'm on the right track there. Also took the Superpower Prodigy, but only had around additional 8 or 10 mindpower. I assume the bonus is not added linearly?
