Umm... why do you insist to change, instead of add, acid to fire? Bottom part of staff buffs only Acid and Cold damage, which I though was intended as those two elements have by far least amount of artifacts in game.

To keep the amount of elements the same.

Though, I suppose it's not actually all that important, now that you mention. Adding it would probably be fine too.

I was thinking maybe replace the current ability with a command staff variant which would change all 4 damage types of an aspect instead of the usual element. This could also be used to keep the amount of elements the staff absorbs manageable, and would keep most to all magic users reasonably happy about it.

Interesting idea. There's all sorts of viable solutions here. You can only theorycraft so much; lots of ideas in this thread--best to just let DG decide at this point imo. :)
