Wayist Mindslayer Summons drop Artifacts

#1 Post by Infinitum »

This has happened during multiple Yeek playthroughs now; I summon the wayists, they time out and somehow one of them leaves an artifact sword on the ground. Thus far, I've gotten the Dagger of the Past, Sword of Potential Futures and that other T4 time themed blade.

Three Edged Sword for me, and it's same with Undead minions, Second Eye bow off Skeleton Master Archer made by Master. Not sure if it's bug, or just them spawning with weapons and dropping them as a way to prevent engine 'checking' them in seen and thus never obtainable in that game anymore.

Basically the latter. Artifacts are guaranteed to drop if they're in the critter's inventory, and summoning abilities don't seem to have a check on if they can generate with artifacts. Thusly, if the critter generates with an artifact equipped, when it "dies" (and summoning duration wearing out counts), it drops the artifact.

So far as I'm aware, that behavior is mostly there to keep summon-users (which can include everyone when you throw in stuff like that vampire summoning item) from buggering themselves out of useful artifacts. It's a pretty cheap way to lose access, after all.

The rate at which they drop is the same as any other normal, non-boss mob--quite rare. You'd honestly farm for what you wanted faster by save scumming than you would farming summons.
