using the Windows version...
been playing for a while now, but been playing a whole lot since 1.0 was finished. Gone through quite a few characters, everything seemed to run great. My last few characters have ran into all white loading screens, and sometimes the loading bars do their thing then the map doesn't change, my character doesn't show up...but the right click menu seems to still work (if i right click on..say, the exit..it asks if i want to Change Level, etc....nothing happens no matter what I choose though).
Only way to close ToME at that point was to kill it in Task Manager, and it's usually using close to 2gb of RAM at that point. I just wiped my save folder wondering if it was loading up all my char vaults and other stuff in there, but figured I'd post about it just in case there was something else I should be checking (: I did save my tome folder from the profile/online/module section...unlocked quite a bit and I'm trying to avoid adding things manually (;

Re: RAM Usage
I was having similar issues also. Are you using add-ons? Unfortunately, I had to stop using add-ons as they were making the game unplayable for me.
Re: RAM Usage
yeah, I had the "always activate all inventory tabs" and the "talent planner" addon...i was playing yesterday after starting from scratch and realized things were running nicer, and came back to mention that without addons everything seems fine.

Re: RAM Usage
I've seen this on Linux too; some of my pre-ZOmnibus characters with a dozen or so addons would be taking up 4-5GB by the time they finally finished loading. Worse, by the time I'd finished a zone or two, memory usage had swelled up to near 8GB and started pushing into swap, which slowed things down badly. I figured it was a memory leak of some sort. Reducing and combining some addons has definitely helped.

Re: RAM Usage
Not sure what your widows version is, but I'm currently using the windows version on XP, with only 512 meg of ram, and using the Zomnibus addon (includes both of the ones you mentioned) as well as both infinite500 and oldrpg, and i don't have these issues. (load times are increased, but it's not giving any sort of failure to load screens, crashes, etc.; and the increase isn't insane in length either.) Could this be a system specific flaw?
Currently playing under the name Aura of the Dawn 4 down, 227 to go!

Re: RAM Usage
I'm going to guess it's actually hardware specific or settings specific. Either having higher RAM prompts it to use more RAM* and the memory leak shows itself when there's excess, or a setting is causing the leak.
*Think about how having lots of programs up at once causes your computer to decide which ones get priority and which ones get put on the backburner. On other hand, if there's no real load at the time, it's free to have everything that's running use as much as they want. It doesn't matter how much memory you have, but rather how much total memory all the programs currently running combined are asking for in relation to the total amount of memory available.

Re: RAM Usage
Thanks Zizzo. I wasn't aware of your ZOmnibus add-on. I'm using it now as it had most the ones I liked to use anyway. So far it's running nicely.
Re: RAM Usage
In my case, it's Windows 7 (Ult 64-bit), with 8GB of RAM total on the machine...so there definitely is a lot of resources for it to use if needed (:
Re: RAM Usage
next version should fix the adons problem
