antimagic debuff notification

#1 Post by wyzzarrdd »

when you wear an antimagic item you should see an antimagic debuff icon, unless you joined the antimagic faction

I support this. There should be a clearer warning. Right now one of the most asked questions in chat is "hey, what's messing my sustains up?" Even us more experienced players sometimes don't notice AM on items.

+1.

This always happens to me with lanterns. I've got a default lantern, so I find a slight upgrade and equip it without paying any more attention. Then I get into a battle and suddenly everything goes wrong.
Weapons I useally notice, mostly because they often come with slime or manaburn. Near basic lanterns that do the same thing as most other lanterns I don't want to need to pay particular attention to.

I think there is a chat message, but a debuff makes a great deal more sense.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

What if it gave you a timed effect every time you failed/disrupted, with either "one of your items" or "arcane disruption" (if you have that timed effect).

If it needs a real effect as well, it could reduce the disruption by an insignificant amount for a short duration, or else increase saves or something.

I think the idea is to give an indication of AM to the player before anything goes wrong, like transmogrifying the previous piece of equipment, for example.

A debuff icon with the spellpower penalty & disruption chance would be great.

This has happened to me a few times as well - I'm slowly getting used to checking before equipping, but I agree that notification through an effect icon would be helpful.

If there's some sort of buff that the AM types get out of it, it would be nice to see that too. I keep seeing spells that my enemies try to throw fizzle from antimagical effects - I'm *assuming* they're not all just wearing antimagic gear themselves, but I have no way of knowing, and if it is my antimagic gear, I certainly don't have any way of knowing how much of an effect it is and whether or not it's worth selecting a piece of equipment for.
