Which graphics mode do you use

Well, first I made the poll and all was fine.....Then I edited my post to fix spelling errors, and when I was done, the poll was gone! So I figured, ok no problem, I'll just edit it again and include the poll. So thats what I did and the poll showed up but with the previous poll options also. I think I tried it again for some stupid reason and created triples of each option

It's quite the other way around here:Sven wrote:I played Old Tiles all the time. But you cannot see the differnce in ego-monsters so I switched to Adam Bolts.
I never was able to get warm with ASCII, allways played with GFX since good old Nethack/Larn/Moria.
I started my first roguelike (Nethack) for ~5 years and immediately played tile versions (Qt, Gnome, X).
My last 3 games where in ASCII on Linux console (I even ascended one of them) and then never switched back to tiles.
It's like the difference between a movie and a book:
Create your own pictures when reading a book is something special...
Another reason for playing on Linux console: It *never* crash (other then X).
Recently I switched to gentoo again (ready now
Although I had no running X during the first 3 days I already could play ToME on Linux console.
Another reason why I *love* playing on console!
A sidenote: Even don't know how the Adam Bolts look like. Is there a screenshot somewhere?

It seems the problem many people have with graphics is that it's darn hard to tell what the monsters and items are.
Still, I like the look of the walls and doors, and especially the health, magic, and monster health bars. Perhaps a 'reduced' version, with graphical interface and terrain, but ascii items and monsters would be a good idea. Hmm...

Oh, okay. I've been using 8x8 for a while now (a month or so) and I've gotten used to the look. But the 16x16 look a lot better, so I think that I'll try those out. I really have gotten bored with the Ascii tiles, though, they're just way too.... bland. Maybe it's because ToME is the only variant that I can get the other tiles to work on...

And it was such a good idea...
I personally use the Adam Bolt tiles simply because I get graphical refresh problems when using ASCII mode (the @ will often duplicate iteself visually, and that irks me to no end). The tiles aren't all that bad when I use bigtile mode and increase the tile width and height enough times to make them a decent size.
