Anyway I just got a new Chromebook (love it) but I'm not sure if I can play ToME on this machine. It's a long shot, but then again so is defeating The Master in Dreadfell, so there ya go.

The answer is no, unfortunately. Unles you root it and install Linux (can that be done?)

I highly doubt it. The point of the Chromebook is the uber-simplicity of just using what's available in the Chrome browser. The browser is the OS, oddly enough.

If Google gets their enterprise solution right on this thing it could crush Microsoft IMHO.
