I think if you modify it slightly this would be a great prompt to get people to donate.
If you are a non donor, and you use your final life, you are prompted to donate, and switch that char to exploreable mode.
If you are a donor and die, nothing changes. So this can only happen once and is just a way to "encourage" donation.
Or at least when you die you could mention exploreable mode being available to donors.

I don't see the point. Adventure gives you enough lives (even infinitely many if you play in cheat mode), and playing in Roguelike and then complaining that your death is final is just silly.
Die early, die often.

From a technical standpoint... not possible. The game deletes your save file as soon as you die.

Sure, that makes sense. Because it's utterly impossible to change current behavior in order to add a new feature.Canderel wrote:From a technical standpoint... not possible. The game deletes your save file as soon as you die.
Snarkiness aside, I'll assume that you meant it's not possible to revive characters from before the change. That doesn't seem like a problem.
For those arguing that it should/shouldn't happen, consider this: If you play Arena or Infinite Dungeon, you are forced into Roguelike mode. If you switch back to the main campaign, it's still set to roguelike! I've lost two very promising characters to being on the wrong game mode. Didn't notice anything was off until my first (and only) death.
I like the idea of gracefully regressing from Roguelike to Adventure to Exploration. For those who'd rather not have the option, well, an option is exactly the solution. Add a "Graceful Defeat" option to the character creation screen: "Characters with Graceful Defeat can choose to drop from Roguelike to Adventure (or Adventure to Exploration) when they die. This feature is only available to donors, and has no effect in game modes that are limited to one life (like the Arena and Infinite Dungeon)."
Presto, problem solved. Those who want a pure Roguelike run can just leave it off, and the idiots like me who keep choosing the wrong game mode by accident can turn it on and stop swearing at unexpected game over screens.

This is a bug and should be reported!FunnyMan3595 wrote: For those arguing that it should/shouldn't happen, consider this: If you play Arena or Infinite Dungeon, you are forced into Roguelike mode. If you switch back to the main campaign, it's still set to roguelike!
